Grouping the Learners

1. Pairwork a very useful
and efficient way of working
in language teaching.
It is simple to organize and
easy to explain , and
groupwork should not be
attempted before the young
learners are used to
working in two first.
Let pupils who are sitting
near each other work
together. Dont move
desks and chairs should
only be moved if
absolutely necessary.
Establish a routine for
pairwork, so that you
say, Now work in your
pairs, pupils know what
is expected of them. The
routine depends on how
your classroom is
arranged.
Pairwork means that
everyone in the class is
occupied, but even if
everyone in the class is
working on the same
thing, not all pairs will
finish at the same time.
if you dont have an even
number of pupils in the
class, then let one group
work as three.
Be on the lookout for the
pupilswho simply dont
like each other- its
unlikely that they will
work well together.
Go through what you
want pupils to do before
you put them into their
pairs.
2. Groupwork everything
which has been said about
pairwork applies to
groupwork. We cannot put
young learners into groups,
give them an exercise and
asume that it will work.

Factors Affecting the Learning

of EYL
Some factors which
influence EYL learning
covering first language or
mother tongue, family
background, social
interaction, learning
materials and teaching
media. The last three factors
obviously take place within
classroom context and will
be described in this section.
- firstly, communication
between teacher and student
and among students whould
be organized warmly and
comfortably so that the
young learners will feel
secure and increase their
self-esteem to learn English.
- Secondly, children have
strong attention to their
interest.
- Lastly, teaching English to
young learners will be more
effective whenever teacher
uses various attractive
media to mantain teaching
and learning activities
because young learners like
visual aids, realia, pictures,
puppets, and miniatures
including things in the
classroom and at school.
