Content

drama. F) Compare and contrast the use of rhyme, rhythm, sound,

imagery, and other literary devices to convey a message and elicit the

Activity Students will take the literary words that they have been studying and
use them to play a game of Jeopardy. This game will help students
study for an upcoming test. The teacher will act as the gameshow
host by reading the questions, assigning points to correct answers,
and deciding whos turn it is to select categories. The class will split
into three groups divided as evenly as possible. The questions in the
game will consist of quotes and definitions and students must identify
the correct literary device. The rules for the game will be like those in
the game show Jeopardy:
1. Groups will be able to answer questions, the first to ring their
buzzer has the first opportunity to answer the question. If the
group answers incorrectly the other groups may answer. If no
group answers correctly, groups can repeat until the correct
answer is reached. (Note: Students are encouraged to use
and update their notes as we play the game.)
2. The teacher will assign points as the groups answer correctly.
The group with the most points at the end of class will be the
winner of the game.
Example of what game questions will look like:
Question: A literary device where words are used in quick
succession and begin with letters belonging to the same
sound group.
o Answer: What is alliteration?
Question: I am so tired I cannot walk another inch.
o Answer: What is hyperbole?
