Note on Bugatti Veyron:

The Bugatti Veyron EB is a grand sport car,
designed and developed in Germany by Volkswagen group and manufactured in Mosheim,
France, by Bugatti Automobiles. Bugatti Veyron wears the initials of Ettore Bugatti an Italian-
Born, who manufactured high performance cars from 1909 to 1947.Bugatti came back to life in
1998 when Volkswagen bought the right of Brand. In 2000, decision was made to make a car that
would have horsepower of 1001hp and top speed of 253mph.The base cost of car is 1.75 million
dollars.
The first challenge faced by organization was that how to build an engine capable of 1001bhp.
The more unconvincing was how to give that engine to a car going to driven on roads and also
on race track; Engineers took five years to solve the problem. They built two V8 engines together
and result was one monstrous engine that was named W16. The veyron engine is an exclusively
handmade engine. The parts of engine to be assembled are made of titanium, material supposed
to use in aircrafts. The engine is comprised of 3500 different parts, twice of a standard engine,
computers are used to inject the parts in engine head, it took four weeks to assemble one engine
with use of computer aided injecting of parts, otherwise it would had taken more longer. Each of
16 cylinders is made of aluminum. Each bolt is fastened by hand and it takes four weeks to
assemble one engine.
The next challenge was to test engine, in 2001 in small workshop in Germany engine was run at
top horsepower. The engine actually produces 3000hp 33 percent of which is heat. This led to
design the cooling system having ten radiators, which are made by stacking thirty separate plates
into jig, and welded. Titanium was used in exhaust system.
Veyron takes 2.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100mph, this was possible because of its two
in one transmission system, it had to shift in time equal to blink of an eye. The transmission
system used is computer controlled double clutch system, two shafts are used; one with odd
gears and other with even, so two gears are shifted at one time, we just have to engage or
disengage clutch for transmission.
For a car with speed of 253mph braking system must had to one step further, massive disc brakes
of titanium are made by hand molding the raw material which are going to operate at 1800
Fahrenheit, this is not enough so a wing is used as air brake, which is controlled precisely by
light sensor designed by MTS, Germany. The reinforced effect of both brakes made car to stop in
2.2 seconds from 100mph.Heggeman, a company specialized in making parts of aircrafts, makes
rear wing of Veyron, and it is tested by computer aided system designed for this. Also fuel tank
of car is being made there which is five times the normal tank and capable of pumping fuel eight
times faster than normal car.

Tires of the car are also one step further, there is no tire at market to meet technical requirement
of car. Tires of Veyron are 14 inch wide, exclusively handmade, checked with laser beam in
microscope. Tires are made of material of aircraft tire, by Michelin, and tested as tire torture
machine, which generates all types of forces.1100 acres of land is specified to test the car.
The car is assembled in Mosheim, France. Seventeen specialists assemble three sections of car
by hand. The rear part is connected to front with fourteen bolts of titanium. Then they run tires at
1001 hp, polished and covered then car is ready for road.
