RESUMO
Objective: to know the main obstetric intercurrences that affect pregnant women.
Methodology: bibliographic research carried out through an integrative review. The
literature was searched in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), where the study sample
was published in the LILACS databases, found through the controlled descriptor
"obstetrics" and the uncontrolled "obstetric," "main," " Natal "and" prevention ".
Included in the inclusion criteria was publication in Portuguese and available free of
charge. The exclusion criteria were publications that were theses or dissertations,
published in other languages, or that required signatures to view the article. The
descriptors were cross-referenced as follows: "prenatal" AND "obstetric
intercurrences" AND "main", "obstetric intercurrences" AND "main", "obstetric
intercurrences" AND "obstetrics", "obstetric "And" obstetric intercurrences "AND"
prevention ". Results: When comparing the descriptors, the following publications
were found: two publications with "prenatal" AND "obstetric intercurrences" AND
"main", two with "obstetric intercurrences" AND "main", one with "obstetric
intercurrences "AND" obstetrics ", seven with" obstetric intercurrences "AND"
prenatal "and another with" obstetric intercurrences "AND" prevention ". After
launching the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were three publications that
composed the study sample. It was observed that hypertensive states, such as
gestational hypertension, preeclampsia and eclampsia, hemorrhage and abortion
were the most frequent occurrences in the present study, since two of the three
components of the sample cited them in their publications. Discussion: One of the
intercurrences found in the present study was the threat of abortion and abortion.
According to Veras and Mhatias (2014), this aggravation is the main reason for
hospitalization of women in the gestational period, corresponding to approximately
10.9% of hospitalizations. The same authors also report that hospitalizations for
hemorrhages appear in second place, representing 5.8% of admissions, and thirdly,
gestational hypertension, with 3.5% of admissions. Both intercurrences were found
during the analysis of the obtained data. Barreto and Mathias (2013) cite urinary tract
infection as the most frequent complication, affecting mainly young women.
Conclusion: it is concluded, therefore, the need to know the most frequent obstetric
complications, seeking prevention and, in existence, immediate treatment,
guaranteeing quality of life for both the pregnant woman and the baby.
