Pedagogy
For this activity, students will be using Quizlet to prepare
for an upcoming test in my Civics class. With technology
being a huge factor in the classroom, I really enjoy my
students being able to use their phone or tablet. I will let
my students, during class, create flashcards to use to
study for the test. I will give them pointers and every
week, at the beginning of every lesson, Ill give them a list
of all the different words and definitions that could
possibly be on their test, that way they can start
preparing from day 1. I want them to utilize the time in
class to make the flashcards on Quizlet because then if
they want to elaborate on the certain term more, I will be
able to help them. During the designated Quizlet time, I
will be walking around making sure everyone is staying
on task with creating their flashcards, if they have any
questions, Ill be able to answer them and then I can
track students progress with the assignment.
For this activity, students will be competing and
collaborating their knowledge from what they learned
from their flashcards in a game called Kahoot! I will divide
the class up into an equal amount of groups and they will
work together to answer the questions that are projected
on the board. They will choose one person from their
group to use their phone to answer the questions. They
will come up with a team name and then work together to
race to answer the questions and get into 1st place. I will
be the one who chooses the groups, administers the
game, creates the competition questions from the list that
I provided them at the beginning of the unit, referees
and provides the little prize at the end as the incentive.

Mobile Application
The technology they will be using is called Quizlet. With
this app, students can create their own flashcards and
teachers can create flashcards to share with their class. I
preferred to have my students make the cards
themselves because typing it out will help it stick in their
minds more. With Quizlet, students can quiz themselves
through the flashcards, shuffle them to study, and play
games that will help them prepare for the exam. The
questions can have answers that are true and false,
written in, or multiple choice. It tells you at the end of
the mini test, what your score was so you know how to
improve. Students can take this on the go with them
since it is a mobile app so they can study anywhere.

The technology they will be using for this activity is called
Kahoot! With Kahoot!, teachers create quiz questions, can
make it private or public, decide how long the students
have to answer the question and provide them with the
code to enter into their phones to access the game.
Students must go to kahoot.it and then wait until they see
the access code projected on the front. They type it into
their phone, and then are entered into the game. They
answer all the questions projected on the board, on their
phone. On their phone, it will show them all the answers
and they will work together to pick them best answer.
They then create a team name. Then once everyones
ready, the teacher will start the game and let it go. Each
question they get right, they get points. At the end of each
question, it says what place they are in. This will get
students excited and make this more of a competition to
take their knowledge and put it to the test. At the end, the
teacher can see what group missed what questions and
which they got right so if they are struggling with certain
areas, I will be able to pinpoint it and help them out before
the exam.
