SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER Divine Mercy Sunday April 23, 2017

Dear Parish Family,

Come and see the place where he lay. (Mt 28: 6) HAPPY EASTER!
The joy and excitement of returning to the newly renovated church and being able to worship there again is in the
air. Late last year we started renovations in our Blessed Sacrament Chapel, and during Lent we started working in
the church building. So this process has not really taken that long if we consider the final product.
Not everything is ready yet but we have planned for this Divine Mercy Weekend as the time to start celebrating
Masses and religious services in our beloved church. Also, the new Eucharistic Column in the Chapel was duly
blessed last Thursday. Thank you so very much for your prayers, patience and support during these months.
At first glance as you enter the church the changes are not readily noticeable; only when you look closely at details
around the altar area do you begin to appreciate what has been accomplished in our sanctuary. A letter I recently
sent to all registered parishioners explains more in depth the rationale behind these changes.
I understand that in doing so some precious liturgical elements from the past such as the Tabernacle and its
pedestal are no longer there physically, but the memory of those to whom they were donated lives on forever.
These objects served a very noble and holy purpose during a period of time, and now they give way to a renewed
liturgical vision in the celebration of the Eucharist. Actually some of those elements are still being used near the
altar.
Indeed, the merciful Lord is risen and his mercy endures forever! People have been approaching me personally
with regards to specific objects in the church and their desire to donate towards them. A list has been composed by
our Pastoral Associate with the new elements to enhance our liturgy and that can be donated towards with their
monetary value. Actually, if you have already given a donation and would like to designate your donation for a
specific item please call Blanca Rocha at the parish office and it will be duly acknowledged.
So come and see our new sanctuary where Jesus lays at every Mass we gather.
He is risen and present in our midst. Let us rejoice and be glad, ALLELUIA!
Fr. Octavio Muguerza
Pastor
