3rd Grade After School Program

Dear Parents,

The after school program that your child is now a part of is a chance for
extra enrichment and learning during after school hours. This program at
Newville is available to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, which is why it may be
unfamiliar to many of you. At the after school program, students will have
the opportunity to explore topics in depth that are not able to covered in the
classroom, often due to time constraints. Additionally, my plan is to provide
opportunities for students to gain more experience using technology and
websites to best enhance their learning.

The goal is for students to learn more about how to conduct research
and compile the research into a presentable format, which will include
projects and writing. We will be using The Big 6 Research Framework to
guide our learning. The following are the 6 steps we will be using:

 This is a club, so there will never be any homework assigned. Students
may choose to work towards their project at home, but it is not required. This
is my first time running this program and I am excited to learn along with the
students as we journey through the world of research together!
