Do translations from Quechua occupy a primary or secondary position in our

social cultural context?

Personally, I think that translations from Quechua occupy a secondary position in our
social cultural context because nowadays this language does not have enough support
from the government and their authorities. There are a lot of beautiful literary works but
they do not have enough diffusion either. Then I believe Peruvian government must find
a good way to create awareness in people. Unfortunately, Quechua is spoken by few
people and they have little interest in learning it and many people do not identify with it.

As I mentioned before, there are very good literary works that due to the lack of
diffusion at national and international level very few people know them. As a matter of
fact, foreign researchers are the ones who gradually spread Quechua literatures to their
countries. The translations play a very important role, since the acceptance of the reader
depends on them. If we as a country do not value Quechua, others do and it would be
sad to know that for not giving the importance it deserves and nobody does anything to
appreciate and support this beautiful language.
