To be honest many struggle with the notion that there is elements

both of continuity and of discontinuity.(Grudem, Collins, &

Schreiner, 2012, p. 28) The Bible is the inspired word of God and
reveals a flow to continuity. It is true that we have gaps in time but
that in itself does not prove discontinuity. Scripture says
Furthermore, we have the reliable prophetic word. You do well by
paying attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the
day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all
understand this: no prophecy of Scripture comes about from a
persons own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever brought
forth by human will; rather, people spoke from God as they were
moved by the Ruach ha-Kodesh.(2 Pet. 1:19-21 TLV) If God is all
knowing than it seems reasonable being a God of order that he
would create a world where any transition is in line with
continuity. Inspiration of the Bible has a lot to do with God being
in continuity with his Word. It is important to understand the
Bible's view of itself. The message is clear Every Christian
doctrine is founded in Holy Scripturethe creeds and confessions
of the church, as surely as the pastors message, find their
justification in one place alone: the teaching of Holy Scripture. It is
in the course of conveying teaching on every other subject that
Scripture also teaches about itself...What is recorded in Scripture
comes from God; the very recording has taken place under a divine
superintendence.(Cameron 1996, p.61) It seems that this would
play a huge role in deciding how the old covenant and new
covenant are woven together. But the message seems to be clear all
the way through. Some might want to differentiate but to Simply
to focus on those occasions when the biblical writers explicitly
attribute elements in their literary product to Gods special work
might be taken to imply the contrary of the position we are
developing; that parts of Scripture have this special status while
other parts do not. The evidence of the New Testament (and,
indeed, of the development of Jewish attitudes to the books of the
Old Testament before that time) suggests something very different:
that these books had been accorded the status of inspired Scripture.
And the argument is not merely historical, showing what the first
Christians believed. Second Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21 indicate
a settled view of Scripture on the part of the church, which the
Gospels demonstrate was in harmony with the teaching of Jesus
himself. (Cameron 1996, p.61) The continuity of Jesus (The
Messiah) is seen woven in scripture from the very beginning until
the very end.

It is said that While Jesus too was vulnerable to this criticism in

some areas of his teaching, especially his indifference to matters of
ritual purity and Sabbath observance, he is even more stringent
than Moses when it comes to justice(Midterm Essay Exam
Question) Many people think that Jesus came to abolish the law
and this notion couldn't be farther from the truth. Everyone needs
to know what Scripture says that Do not think that I came to
abolish the Torah or the Prophets! I did not come to abolish, but to
fulfill. Amen, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the
smallest letter or serif shall ever pass away from the Torah until all
things come to pass. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of
these commandments, and teaches others the same, shall be called
least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever keeps and teaches
them, this one shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I
tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the
Pharisees and Torah scholars, you shall never enter the kingdom of
heaven!(Matt.5: 17-20 TLV) In fulfilling the law Jesus was giving
life to all sinners who could not fulfill the law. No doubt that
following the law was tough. But following Jesus can be much
tougher because of what it requires. Looking closely we can see
that Matthew uses Jesus words in 5:1720 as a thesis statement
for the whole of 5:2148 which follows. Jesus essentially says,
Look, if you thought the law was tough, wait till you see this. If
you really want to be my disciples, give me your hearts without
reservation (Keener 1997) Jesus is making a huge statement here
in declaring I don't just want you following laws I want all of you
and when you give me everything I will give you my grace which
covers everything including the law. Justice requires righteousness
and Jesus represents all the righteousness we need when we accept
his grace and are transformed. Transformation is key as It is
possible to agree with everything Jesus taught in this sermon yet
fail to live accordingly (23:3). That is why Jesus indicates that the
best of human piety is inadequate for salvationwhether it be
Pharisaic or Christian. Nothing short of a radical transformation,
what other early Christian writers called a new birth (Jn 3:36; 1
Pet 1:23), can enable one to live as a disciple (compare Mt 18:3).

The phrase already but not yet centers around the life and
ministry of who and what Jesus is. It really shows how the
kingdom relates to Jesus in the old/new and to be more succinct.
In other words, the kingdom was already present in Jesus and his
ministry, but it was not yet present in its entirety. It was already
but not yet. It was inaugurated but not consummated. (Grudem,
Collins, & Schreiner, 2012, p. 110) Jesus fulfills and more
importantly he has a divine purpose. From the very beginning we
can see that Jesus is the Word In the beginning was the Word. The
Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in
the beginning. All things were made through Him, and apart from
Him nothing was made that has come into being. In Him was life,
and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overpowered it.(John 1:1-5 TLV) When
reading the old covenant it becomes clear in God's continuity that
He has a sovereign plan and purpose for all who will accept his gift
of free grace. This is why the death and resurrection of Christ is so
important. It was told to the women at the tomb Why do you
search for the living among the dead? He is not here, but He is
risen! Remember what He told you when He was still in the
Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the
hands of sinful men, and be executed, and on the third day rise up.
And they were reminded of His words. And when they returned
from the tomb, they told all these things to the eleven and to
everyone else.(Luke 24:5-9 TLV) Everyone must understand that
Jesus is alive and he has risen. On his return all will witness Jesus
coming in the clouds to consummate this divine prophecy. This is
so profound we see in revelation and from Messiah Yeshua, the
faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings
of the earth. To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins
by His blood and made us a kingdom, kohanim to His God and
Fatherto Him be glory and power forever! Amen!
Look, He is coming with the clouds,
and every eye shall see Him,
even those who pierced Him.
And all the tribes of the earth
shall mourn because of Him.
Yes, amen!(Rev. 1:5-7 TLV)

Finally it must be stated that the phrase already but not yet has
eternal consequences effecting the whole world.
