The 3rd North American Conference is being held in collaboration with Salaam Canada & Al-Fatiha Los Angeles
Al-Fatiha Third North American Conference
For LGBTIQ Muslims & their Allies
Registration: All participants must register prior to the conference. Early registration deadline is Friday, January 9, 2004. Late registration deadline
is Friday, January 30, 2004. Registration fees are listed below on the registration form. Details about the location of the conference will be sent via
postal mail after we have processed your registration. Please note that there will be NO registration on site. You must send in a completed
registration form and payment in order to ensure proper registration. All registrations with payment MUST be postmarked by Friday, January
30, 2004.
Food & Special Events: Continental breakfast and lunch will be served on Saturday, February 15th and Sunday, February 16th. All registered
participants will also get one ticket to the opening reception and film festival on Friday evening, February 13th as well as one ticket for the film
screenings on Saturday evening, February 14th. Registration fees also include one ticket to the cultural festival and award ceremony on Sunday
evening, February 15th. Tickets to special events for non-registered guests are: Friday night Opening Reception and Film Festival: $25 - Saturday
evening Film Festival: $12 - Sunday evening cultural festival & award ceremony: $20.
Hotels: The following hotels are within one mile of the conference venue. Please contact the hotels directly to book a room. Room rates are not
negotiated with the hotel and are subject to change. Al-Fatiha is tentatively arranging a shuttle for participants staying in these rooms. The shuttle will
transport participants from the hotels to the conference venue.

Community Housing: There is limited community housing available with local Al-Fatiha chapter members and their supporters. For more
information about community housing please contact Al-Fatiha by email at gaymuslims@yahoo.com by no later than January 23, 2004. Community
housing is available on a first-come first-served basis. Community housing is not guaranteed.
Venue and Transportation: The venue of the conference will be in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The site of the conference is not disclosed due to safety
and security reasons (see safety and security below). Detailed information will be mailed to you upon receipt of registration form and registration fees.
You are responsible for making your own travel and housing accommodations (for community housing and hotel information see below). Airports in
the Los Angeles area including Los Angeles International Airport (20 miles from conference venue), Burbank Airport (10 miles from conference
venue), Long Beach Airport (35 miles from conference venue) and John Wayne Orange County Airport (50 miles from conference venue). Southwest,
an inexpensive airline has flights into most major airports in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. You are also encouraged to look online at websites
including expedia.com and travelocity.com.
Scholarships: Unfortunately we do not have the financial capacity to provide travel scholarships. However reduced registration fees and registration
waivers are available on a case-by-case basis. Registration costs should not prohibit you from coming to the conference. Any one who cannot afford
the registration fee is eligible for a scholarship. Women, young people and transgender-identified people will be given priority in the awarding of
registration scholarships. Scholarship deadline is January 9, 2004. Contact us for more details.
Canadian & International Participants: Canadian participants should register with Salaam Canada in Canadian dollars. See
http://www.salaamcanada.com for more information. Registration fees are waived for all participants who are coming from outside of the United
States and Canada. All international participants must make their own visa arrangements. A limited number of letters of invitation will be issued by
Al-Fatiha. Please contact us for more information. Deadline for letters of invitation is January 23, 2004.
Security and Safety: Due to security and safety concerns, the exact location of the retreats will not be publicly announced. Detailed information
about the retreat venue and directions to the conference will be sent by postal mail only. Additionally all participants will be expected to wear
nametags at all times during the workshops and discussion sessions.
Media and Press: Media and press must register in advance. Contact Al-Fatiha for more information. Members of the media and press must wear a
visible name-tag indicating that they are a media/press person at ALL times during the duration of the conference. Photographs can only be taken with
the express permission of those being photographed. Al-Fatiha members and conference organizers will be available for interviews.
