CALCULATORS ALLOWED
1. When playing racquetball, a player uses a tennis racket to smack a ball towards a wall,
and the ball ricochets off the way to the next player. Suppose that each player does not
miss the ball at any point. Draw a general graphical representation of the motion of the
ball as it goes from a player, to the wall, to another player continuously. Explain your
reasoning behind your drawing. Note: use appropriate labels and units for each of the
axes, determine what units are reasonable in this situation.

2. In the same situation, suppose that one player is the Incredible Hulk, and, during one of
the games, the Hulk smacks the ball so hard that it is sent flying through the wall
continuously without stopping/slowing down. Using your previous graph, demonstrate
this scenario in the same context, units, and labels from when the players start playing
racquetball to the point after the ball exits the wall. Explain your reasoning.
3. Given the following equations, fill in the missing information of each table, and draw the
quadratics on the same graph. Determine the vertices of each equation and determine any
points of intersection:
Equation A: = 3( 4)2 5
X -1 3 7 10 13
Y 43 -2 43 142

Equation B: = 4 ( + 2)2 + 1

X -1 3 7 10 13
Y 2 13.25 26 50
