IV. Setting
Kingwood Township School District
Multi-Age (7-8 years old) classroom, 17 students, 1 head teacher

I. Pre-Observation
Today the students were very excited to going into the science unit of the day. Mrs.
Michalski has been working on this science unit for two weeks now. Today was the day
that all of the children got to share their poster and research on any animal they have
chosen. Mrs. Michalski told me the children did they own research with the help of the
computer teacher and their parents. The students did most of their research with World
Wildlife website and National Geographic website. The students were not allowed to
pick any of the same animals. The students were randomly chosen out of sticks to pick
what animal they wanted to do their research on. On their posters the students were
required to have their names name, where you can find the animal, a picture of their
animal, and one interesting fact about their animal of choice.

II. Data Observations were conducted on March 28, 2017.

All the students went to their cubbies and got their poster. After the students got their
poster they were required to sit on the carpet all along the outside. Some students we did
not sit on outside of the carpet right away, but instead of Mrs. Michalski saying
something to those students, the other students called them out on it. This did cause a
delay in starting a presentation. Mrs. Michalski sat down on the carpet to hear the
students present. One at a time the children presented. After the student was done
presenting they got to call on friend to ask questions. Mrs. Michalski keeping having to
say this will be the last question. As she said this the students would call out this is not
fair, or please let me share please, please, please. After all the children presented they
pasted their posters on the back green table.

III. Analysis
As a future teacher, I could tell all the students were super excited to share their research
and posters with everyone. With the posters, I believe it is hard to give them a grade
because with some one of the projects you can tell that their parents did a lot of the work.
The poster was all very different, but the same in their own ways. I loved that Mrs.
Michalski sat on the carpet with the students. By her doing this it should to the students
and me that she really cares about their work and enjoys their projects.

IV. Recommendations
The recommendation that I would do to this lesson would do not have the children hold
their posters while everyone else is presenting, this caused a huge distraction. Instead
Mrs. Michalski could've help onto the poster and handed them out when it was that
students turn. The other recommendation I would have had was to a limit on the number
of question the students were allowed to answer. Mrs. Michalski could've set the limit to
three, so after three question the students would no they are moving on.

V. Post-Observation
After completing this observation, I could see how excited you can make a simple lesson.
All the students were excited to present, due the research and to make their own poster.
With the poster, you were able to see which parents were on board with his lesson and the
parents that just let their child do whatever without reviewing their work. As a future
teacher, I am excited that I was able to use this lesson and do these different activities in
my future classroom.
