Observation 3
Math

II. Grade
Pre-K Enrichment

III. Students
12 boys, 10 girls

IV. Setting
Pre-K Enrichment classroom at The Goddard School of Flemington
Multi-Age (4-5 years old) classroom, 22 students, 1 head teacher, 1 assistant teacher

V. Pre-Observation
Before I completed this observation I had to find out information about pre-k math
standards. On the site,34 Pre-K Math Lesson Plans & Activities for Your Teaching
Convenience, they gave me an insight of what a pre-k should know and know to teach
them in an exciting, but educational day. For this activity the children were required to
separate all the different color pouch and other container caps from each other.

VI. Data Observations were conducted on March 23, 2016.

At first there was only, two students separation the caps, but then one by one more and
more children came over to help. Every child was at this center about twenty minutes into
center time. The children were working together by pacing the colors to each other. Some
of the students started to run.

VII. Analysis
As soon as I knew it, all the children were at this center. I could tell that they were all
really into this active, but I believe they forgot the promise of the active. The students
were supposed to count the number of caps that they have separated by color.
