REGULATION ORDINANCE NO. 2009-155

AN ORDINANCE NAMING THE NINE (9) UNNAMED STREETS
WITHIN M.V. HECHANOVA SUBDIVISION, BRGY. M.V.
HECHANOVA, JARO, ILOILO CITY WITH THE NAMES OF
OUR NATIONAL HEROES

WHEREAS, Article 21 (B) of the Rules and Regulations implementing the Local
Government Code of 1991 provides that the S~ggunians of highly urbanized cities may
in consultation with the National Historical Institute, change the name of the following
within their respective territorial jurisdictions: city and barangay roads, streets, avenues,
boulevards, thoroughfares and bridges;

WHEREAS, the National Historical Institute interposes no objection to the /

naming of the nine (9) unnamed streets within M.V. Hechanova Subdivision, Brgy. M.V/
Hechanova, Jaro, Iloilo City, with the names of our national heroes;

WHEREAS, under the revised guidelines of NHI on the naming and renaming of
streets state that "proposed names must have historical and cultural significance and must
contribute to the positive development of our national pride through good example
exhibited by the name being used";

NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City

of Iloilo, in session assembled, that:

Section 1. The nine (9) unnamed streets within M.V. Hechanova Subdivision,
Brgy. M.V. Hechanova, Jaro, Iloilo City, be named after the names of our national
heroes, to wit:

1. G. Lopez Jaena Street-Main road (Entrance)

2. Rizal Street - 1st street crossing the main street
3. Mabini Street - 2nd street crossing the main street
4. Bonifacio Street - 3rd street at the end point of the main street
5. M.H. del Pilar Street - 1st street perpendicular to Bonifacio Street
6. Delgado Street - 2nd street perpendicular to Bonifacio Street
7. Aguinaldo Street - 1st street perpendicular to Mabini Street
8. Lapu-Lapu Street - 1st street at the end point of Aguinaldo Street
9. G. Silang Street - 1st street perpendicular to Lapu-Lapu Street

Section 2. The Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines; Hon.
Raul Gonzalez, Jr.. Congressman, Lone District of Iloilo City; Philippine Postal
Corporation; National Historical Institute; City Assessor's Office; City Treasurer's
Office; Barangay Secretariat; Barangay Council of M.V. Hechanova, Jaro, be notified of
this ordinance.

Section 3. The ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.

ENACTED, 25 March 2009.
