Reflection lesson 3:

In this lesson, we started new unit about the objects in the sky. I was so
excited to teach the new unit as well as I was nerves because my MCT will
observe me. Specifically, I thought about the objects in the nighttime and
how we can see them. So, the problem was that the lesson was broken into
two parts so I didn't know how I can merge the two information together but I
failed in doing the inquiry.

Firstly I activated their prior knowledge about the daytime sky and I started
to compare them between the nighttime sky which is the lesson of today. In
this way, the students will activate their prior knowledge in the way to build
the new knowledge.

To explore the objects I told them a story with asking them questions on it. In
this way, I linked the literacy with the science. As I discovered my students
liked story tales I succeed in changing my voice so they can deeply engage
through the story and learn about the objects in the night.

The students also need to know the shape of the moon so I provided many
shapes and I made them discover the shape of the sphere.

In the explanation part, I tried to link between two information by saying how
you can see the objects in the sky bigger what tools do we need to use?

I used magnifying glasses to introduce the telescope. My MCT felt that there
is no purpose of using the magnifying glass but I disagree with him because
my goal is to activate their prior knowledge through different tools that
magnify things that they are familiar with them. Then I will introduce the
telescope that is another equipment that magnifies the objects in the sky.
Through this activity as it is obvious the students knew that telescope is
magnifying. However, I agreed with him that I should do this activity in the
exploration part so they can explore the telescope.

When I was explaining the terms I wrote them on the board so the students
can memorize them. They also acted out so I integrated kinesthetic learning
style so they can learn new terms through acting.

I spent lots of time in talking which made the class teacher center. If I
incorporate some activities that make the students explore the information
by themselves will be better.
This problem reflect on the extended activity, the students didn't have time
to do the activity. The elaborate activity was to make the students imagine
how the pictures look like and write just sentences. But due to unclear
instruction, some students thought that they should write an essay so I need
to make my instruction clearer.

I was rushed with the elaborate activity to do the evaluation part by using
formative assessment which is a quiz. The quiz to show how they understand
the concept.

Overall, I think in this class the behavior management through the reward
system by using some strategies like counting and ringing the bell that
developed effectively. The students used many tools that can help them to
learn the lesson. However, I need to use the 5E's in order and I need to
reduce my talking time.
