POSITION: INFORMATION MANAGEMENT & MEDIA COORDINATOR

OPENING DATE: 04 April 2017 @ 8:00 AM

POST LOCATION: Cotonou Benin

WORK HOURS : Full Time - 40 hours/week

The United States Peace Corps Benin is seeking an individual for the position of Information
Management & Media Coordinator, based in Cotonou. The incumbent is a Personal
Service Contractor (PSC). This position reports to the Peace Corps (PC) Country Director (CD).

Under the direct supervision of the Peace Corps (PC) Country Director (CD), the Information
Management & Media Coordinator will work with subject matter experts, including PC staff and
Volunteers, to produce post reports, fact sheets, case studies, success stories, and other
communication and outreach materials for both internal and external audiences. In addition,
some of these resources will be produced and distributed via a range of media (e.g., print, Web,
social media), and may often require quick-turn-around activities or products.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must be a Beninese citizen, must not have been employed in intelligence-related
activities, and must be able to submit application that clearly documents how s/he meets each of
the following qualifications:

Education: Bachelor degree in journalism, (BAC+3) writing, communications or related field


with demonstrated competencies in the required qualification areas

Abilities and Skills: Must demonstrate and successfully accomplish the following:
First-hand knowledge developing communication materials for both American and
international audiences;
Excellent writing, editing, formatting, research, and verbal communication skills and able
to communicate effectively across diverse cultures to connect American and West
African audiences;
Able to research, write, develop and publish professional content across different media;
Able to produce quality deliverables in a timely manner, coordinate multiple projects
simultaneously, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines;
Social media savvy; design, photo, video experience and editing skills; experience in
developing info-graphics; copy editing;
Proficient using MS Office software, web design, HTML and other media software
packages (i.e. Photoshop, video editing) is required. Experience posting to social media
such as: Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, etc, preferably for
organizational outreach, is required;
Technical knowledge of PC/Benin Volunteer program areas strongly preferred.

Prior work experience:


Two to five years of experience working in communications in international development
or a closely related field; three or more years of related work experience is a plus;
Prior experience living and working in the United States of America and in at least one
developing country highly desired;
Prior experience collaborating with Peace Corps is preferred.

Language Proficiency:
Fluency in both spoken and written English and Advanced French; basic knowledge of local
Beninese language desirable.
