TRIBUNES
Officials who were
Governed the city. They were
appointed to be judges, to Were appointed to protect
elected for one year only and could
look after the cities finances the ordinary people against
not be elected again until 10 years
and other jobs unfair treatment
had passed.
They both had to agree before a
decision could be made.

THE SENATE
When magistrates retired they became members of the senate.
They had lots of experience and gave advice to the consuls.
The Senate became very important and ended up controlling Rome
