CTAHPERD Mini-Grant Proposal

Part A: Overview of Request

Title: PE PD
Amount: $1,000.00
Type of equipment requested: General A/V and teaching tools; activity equipment

Discipline - please circle: Health and PE

Part B: Project Description

Describe your project by answering the following questions:

1. What is the request?

We are requesting a grant for $1,000 to fund the expenses of hosting a

professional development workshop for all full time and part time physical and
health education teachers of Bridgeport Public Schools.

2. Is it new, or supplementing an existing unit/curriculum? How?

This professional development is a new opportunity for our teachers to continue

their development as quality PE professionals while also maintaining our district
professional disposition of lifelong learning.

3. How does this request support your curriculum?

The focus of the workshop will be on techniques to advocating for your PE

program(s). Therefore, teachers learn how to extrapolate and present the benefits
of their curriculum to all the stakeholders involved. PE professionals know that
the benefits of PE relate to the development of the whole child and will begin to
focus on ways their curriculum design alone can advocate for itself.

4. How does this request support your instruction?

By advocating for our programs, we are thus advocating for the well-rounded
education all students deserve in the public school systems. Advocacy allows us
to inform the stakeholders of the important role we play in the lives of each
student. Therefore, we will have support from all these stakeholders involved.

5. How does this request support your assessment?

In this workshop, teachers will learn how to incorporate measureable data into the
curriculum in order to use that as a way to advocate.
6. If the request does not support curriculum, instruction, or assessment, what does it
do?

Part C: Curriculum & Instruction

1. Provide a minimum of 2 measureable objectives that your request for the

equipment will meet.

1. To inspire and provide extra resources for advocating for teachers with
passion.

2. Learn exciting and creative ways to promote health and PE to all

stakeholders involved.

2. What students and how many students will be affected?

All students and stakeholders part of the Bridgeport Public School district will be
affected.

3. Provide a timeline of unit/events, along with a schedule.

1:30 2 pm Registration

2 3 pm Presenters

3 4 pm Activity Presentations

4. How will the equipment enhance student learning?

The equipment used in the presentation is to provide examples of activities that

can be used to help promote the program.

5. How will you determine whether your objectives have been achieved and whether
your project is successful?

We will be following up with each PE teacher and school, requesting monthly

reports on different advocating initiatives they have taken.

6. Are you applying for funds from additional revenue sources?

We are applying for funds from several other additional revenue sources.
