Management of the Instructional Environment
Teacher will have paint palettes, using acrylic paint and aluminum foil, prepared before students
arrive. Teacher will also have Ziploc Bags, Sharpies, and oil pastels for each student already at the
tables. Each table will also have a copy of The Night Caf to use as a reference.
Technology Integration
Teacher will use a project to present a Power Point over Van Gogh and project. Teacher will also use a
document camera to do a class demonstration over medium and techniques being used.
Diversity and Equity (Accommodations, Modifications, Adaptations)
Students will be given sections of the mural based on their skills, ability and accommodations. Teacher
will also be walking around assisting students that need extra attention and direction.
Activities/Procedures
Introduction: Students will enter the classroom and begin working on their imagination line that will prepare
them for the days lesson. After students spend a few minutes working on the imagination line, teacher will
instruct them to close their sketchbooks and begin Power Point over Vincent Van Gogh including a short bio,
overview of his work and techniques, and introduction over project.
Guided Practice: After Power Point, teacher will hand out students portion of the mural and instruct student
start tracing their portion with sharpie and write their names on the back. While students trace their portion,
teacher will set up document camera and materials for the class demonstration.
Independent Practice: After the demonstration, students will begin working on their section using oil pastels
and acrylic paint. As students begin working, teacher will walk around the classroom, assisting students in
identifying their portion of The Night Caf.
Closure: Students will be given a ten-minute warning before class ends to help them prepare for cleaning up.
Five minutes before the end of class, teacher will announce it is time to clean up. Teacher will call students by
table to set their work on the drying rack along with their Ziploc bag. Teacher will ask students to clean their
oil pastels with the paper towels at their table and ask one student to pick up the oil pastels from all the
tables and return them to the materials table. Students will be asked to line up by table after answering a
question about the lesson.
