Lesson Lesson: Natural resources No of 21

unit/page Unit 6: People and Resources students
Pages: from 254-255

Context of the lesson

This lesson related to the previous lesson natural resources
Students will be able to identify the uses of natural resources present in the Earth.

Teaching goal
Make sure that Students understand the uses of different natural resources.

Learning objectives
Students will able to write a list of natural resource uses
Students will be able to identify resources with their uses

Assumptions about prior learning

Students already know about the meaning of natural resources, renewable and nonrenewable resources.
Students should be able to understand that All products that people use somehow come from the Earth.

Anticipated problems and possible solutions

Students might play with the materials of the activities
Solution: give them the materials after explaining the activity

Personal focus for this lesson

Using louder voice that all students can hear
Use the reward system to encourage students engagement and participation
Get answers for almost all students

Target language Teacher language

Natural resources Natural resources: things that come from nature
that people can use.
Renewable resources Renewable resources: resources that can be replaces
easily.
Non-renewable resources Nonrenewable resources: natural resources that can
be used up
Resources and teaching aids
- Review
- Flashcards for: Natural resources, Renewable
- uses of natural resources resources and Non-renewable resources
- 5 boards. Each one includes title (natural
resources), 3 objects of Natural resources
(Plant, animal, and soil) and blank piece of
paper under each resources
- Explore: how it can be used - Markers to write on the paper
- soil, water, wood, plant, animal objects
- worksheet include: gaps for name of
students, name of the resource, and list of
uses 1-8
- pencils
- Elaborate and evaluate: my journal of - blank journal papers
natural resources

Consider these grouping strategies: Consider where the children are working:
4 students in each group Students will work in the science room
1 group with 5 students

Planning Stages within the 5-E Inquiry Model

Engage
Key Question:
How can we use natural resources?
Questions for whole group discussion:
What products come from this resource?

Procedures: instructions After the activity, the teacher will

1. there will be a table in front of the room ask each group to show what
2. The teacher will show students the resource theyve done.
that she have on the table (water, plant, wood,
soil and animal)
3. Engage students by asking them questions about
the uses of these resources
4. get answers from them
5. Explain the activity for them
6. Then the teacher will give each group a natural
resources board which include title (natural
resources), 3 objects of Natural resources (Plant,
animal, and soil) and blank piece of paper under
each resources for students to write one use for
each given resource
Explore
Activities (list) Driving Question
How it can be used? How can natural resources be
used?

Teacher: I will provide each group one resource Student

Procedures: Will work in groups of 4
1. The teacher will explain the activity for the
students before giving them the materials
2. Each group will get a resource and a worksheet
that teacher will give them after explaining the
activity
3. In each group Students will discuss and try to
explore the uses of the resource
4. The teacher will walk around the classroom to
observe
5. Then fill the gabs in the worksheet
6. at the same time the teacher will assess them
when ask 1 from each group will come in front
of the classroom and present the groups work

Student Communication Product:

Whole class discussion

Explain
Content Media: teacher lecture

Teacher Student

- The teacher will ask students to close their Close their eyes and Imagine the
eyes, then imagine the life without trees life without a natural resources

- The teacher will inform the students about

the importance of natural resources and why
we cant live without them

- Give an example about the trees ( allow us to

breathe because they release oxygen into the
air, they also provide shelter because we use
them to build houses, we use their leaves to
make papers) point on papers or books
Elaborate
Activities: Teacher Student

Make a - Ask students to make a journal about Will work individually by

natural what they have learned in this lesson their own
resources and the previous one - Create their own
journal - Write on the board what is the things journals
It will be as that must be in each journal (title, - Include all needed
activity and students name, the meaning of information
assessment natural, renewable and nonrenewable - Being creative
resources, examples and uses of them)
- Tell students that they are allowed to
add any extra information, draw, and
color unless they put all needed
information
- Motivate students to be creative by
asking them to show their creation
- Tell that the best journal will
presented to whole classroom and the
student who made it will get one point
in the reward system
- Give each student a blank journal
sheets (which will be prepared before
the lesson)
