Project and Report: Final Project
Evaluation

Introduction:

This report presents the results of an evaluation on my video presentation about Corrective Exercise
Prescription for the Lower Extremity Based. The report is based upon survey data collected from Virginia
Tech staff, and graduate assistants and addresses the background Corrective Exercise Prescription, the
purposes of the evaluation, the questions addressed for the evaluation of the video presentation, methods of
evaluation, and sampling procedures of the evaluation.

This document has been prepared by and for Lewis Young, ATC-L, CES.

Background:

I have created a formative evaluation on the effectiveness and quality of a video presentation I created about
Corrective Exercise Prescription for the Lower Extremity. Corrective Exercise is a term used to describe the
systematic process of identifying a neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction, developing a plan of action, and
implementing an integrated corrective strategy. This process is utilized in order to prevent acute and chronic
orthopedic issues, as well as to treat issues that arise.

Purpose

The purpose of my evaluation is to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the video presentation. With
feedback from other health care professionals in the Virginia Tech Sports Medicine Department, my goal is
to determine if my work efficiently educates others in my profession and is relevant to their practice.

Guiding Key Questions:

This plan of evaluation addressed the following questions:

1. Is the video presentation clean, well designed and clear in communication of the material?
2. Does the video presentation easily educate the viewer on
3. Is the material in the video presentation easily retainable for the viewer
4. Is the material in the video presentation applicable for use in the health care professionals orthopedic
practice

Stakeholders:
Primary Stakeholder:

Decisions

Considering that I am the primary stakeholder, the results of this evaluation could have had an impact on any
or all of the decisions and revisions made for my final project. Revisions to my project may include, but are
not limited to, design, quantity of work, quality of work, video, audio, and content. The following are factors
that may arise from the evaluations on my work and force decision making:

The amount of content within the video presentation.

Implementation strategies for delivering content
The videos are not clear and dont do a good job exemplifying certain processes

Sampling Strategy: For my evaluation I have utilized a paper document of the survey. I distributed the
survey to the entire sports medicine staff that are involved in daily injury rehabilitation for our student
athletes. Once the surveys were completed I collected them and analyzed the qualitative and quantitative
results. This has allowed me to evaluate the video presentation and decide what changes would need to be
made to the presentation. Ultimately the sample size was the following: 8 sports medicine staff, 8 graduate
assistant athletic trainers. I contacted everyone in person in regards to the survey and I collected the survey
after they finished completing it at work the day it was given out.

Data Collection Methods and Instruments:

This evaluation was assembled quickly, the data was collected within the confines of the Virginia Tech
Sports Medicine Department. When collecting the data, it didnt take long and the data analysis was
completed within the day after the evaluations were returned. I utilized a paper survey in order to allow for
immediate data collection. The survey utilized open ended questions, yes-no questions, and scaled questions.

Logistics:

This evaluation was conducted by Lewis Young. As the project evaluator, I was responsible for all parts of
the evaluation. The analysis of the survey results began immediately once the evaluations were all
completed. Once the analysis was completed I identified the necessary changes within the video presentation
and corrected any issues that were noted within the evaluation survey.

Budget:

With this evaluation project, the lone expense was the price of paper and the computer (both are already
provided by VT Sports Medicine) and therefore the funding has come from VT Sports Medicine. There are
no additional costs.

Project and Report: Final Project
Evaluation

Of the 16 surveys distributed, all 16 surveys were received from the participants, representing a 100% return
rate. The data collected from these surveys are available in their entirety within the following sections:

1. Table of results (scale answers)

2. Table of Results (Yes/No answers)
3. Results for changes needing to be made
4. Results for positive results

Three individuals thought it was a cool method for correcting orthopedic issues, but stated they did
not feel it was something they wanted to implement into their practice since they are set with what
they are already doing for their patients.

Most did not think it was too long, (2) said that it was longer than they had time for.

Section 4: Results for Video Presentation survey

Several survey responses stated that they liked the video examples
Two staff stated that they like the layout of text vs. images vs. individual videos.
o Videos complete the dialogue after text and pictures are given

Discussion:

Based on the survey, it can be suggested that theres not a ton of change that needs to occur for the video
presentation. In regards to the question, Do you think there was too much content in the video
presentation?, the following were some of the responses that stood out:

The overall presentation was great, I just didnt have enough time to view the entirety of it since it contains
a log of information Staff Athletic Trainer

I think that for a topic like this, the amount of content was relevant and purposeful Graduate Assistant
Athletic Trainer

If an individual in the orthopedic health care setting wanted to view this video, I feel like they would set
aside the time like I did Staff Athletic Trainer

Evaluation

With these responses, I didnt feel the need to change the length of the content. I figured that if an individual
would like to learn about this, they would be setting aside the time in order to watch it and learn facts from it
just as they would for Continuing Education Credits.

Furthermore, in regards to the design and content, the following responses stood out to me from the
evaluation survey:
I think the video presentation looks great, I would maybe try to edit some of the pictures so they fade more
into the background since they look like theyve been cropped Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer.

I feel like the way in which it is laid out, where you have text and pictures that talk about a particular topic
and then videos to re-confirm what you are teaching, is very useful for information retention Staff
Athletic Trainer

Recommendations:

After analyzing the results and responses of the survey, it can be concluded that there was a need for this
survey and there are some minor tweaks that should be considered in order to create a better video
presentation:

Fade the edges of the pictures so that they are not cropped web pictures or scanned in from a text
book
Modify color scheme so that it is professional and clean, not too bright
