Teaching Philosophy

Brittany Gladis

My teaching philosophy is based upon three core concepts; developing passion to be a

lifelong learner, guiding students to become respectable community members, and encouraging
students to be enthusiastic about their learning. In my classroom, I am able to accomplish
these concepts by providing a positive and welcoming learning environment. I also believe in a
kind, yet firm, approach to classroom management by setting clear and concise classroom
expectations.

Learning is a lifelong process, the learning that takes place during this time will set the
foundation for what is to come as students progress on their educational journey. I appreciate
the academic learning that is required but just as much, I appreciate the life lessons that are
learned. These students are at a prime age in which they can learn honesty, respect, and
kindness and I strive to show my students a good example of this daily.

Classroom stability, I believe, allows my students to flourish and explore their interests
as well as develop their passion for learning. This also allows for a strong mutual respect
between myself and my students. It is because of this relationship that my students are able to
develop passion and enthusiasm for learning. When students are in my classroom they can
expect to be celebrated, encouraged, and challenged to discover the rewards of learning. In
order to truly create an environment that promotes lifelong learning and passion there must be
constant communication and collaboration with school administration and parents. By working
together, we are all able to provide students with an optimal learning environment.

Research shows that students learn best when educators appeal to their zone of
proximal development. I utilize this theory by collecting student data to form small groups based
upon instructional need. This allows me to differentiate all district provided curriculum to the
variety of learners within my classroom.

I am able to inspire my students to learn by holding true to the three core concepts of my
teaching philosophy; developing passion to be a lifelong learner, guiding students to become
respectable community members, and encouraging students to be enthusiastic about their
learning. It is with these in mind that I hope to provide the foundation my students need to be
successful throughout their educational journey. .
