Dear Kristie, I like many students have been on a pursuit for knowledge to better my life and
those around me, I have always been a strong and determined individual. I have returned to
school with a different major focusing more on politics and researching policies that have had
devastating effects on Cities and on the lives of people. I have strong love for humanity and Im
glad to say, that I am part of the student senate overseeing the school of humanities and social
science, which has given me the wonderful opportunities to get to know the faculty, my peers
and work closely with my community to understand them on deeper level.

For instance, I had a wonderful time getting to know the residents of The Road Home in Salt
Lake. I conducted a qualitative research trying to understand the deeper issues of
homelessness which has inspired me to invoke change within our society to move towards a
more egalitarian way of living. As I worked with the homeless populations Ive started to
understand that they were victims of the state, many of whom had little guidance and education
when growing up. While I was going through your website I could see that your organization
does its very best to inform your patrons on the ins and outs of becoming a home owner, and
even offering classes. This I find truly beneficial especially if we hope to see less people
struggling with obtaining loans or accessing affordable housing.

Ive worked in a caf and the interactions I had with the people were always the highlight of my
day. Not only did I find people comforting but Ive also acquired or understood a few skills that
have helped me navigate through the torrential waves of human emotion. I am patient and
rational individual, there have been several occasions when Ive had upset costumers, and all
that one can do is remedy the situation by being attentive and compassionate. As a result, I
have developed an impeccable proficiency in communication skills verbal and written, in
addition to having interpersonal skills.

Nothing would bring me more pleasure than being part of an organization such as CDCU, the
service you are providing is essential for a functioning society. CDCU is more than just work it is
an ideology, that deeply parallels my core beliefs of providing information to better the lives of so
many. Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely, Pedro Rico
