1. Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in India/Rameshwari Pandya

Skill development and entrepreneurship are complementary to each other. The term skills is used
in the literature to refer to a wide range of attributes and to that extent there is no clear definition
of a skilled worker. In practical terms, the term used is marketable skill which commonly refers to
any skill/expertise/ability that has a market value, i.e. which has the potential of being utilised for
generating income/employment. Entrepreneurship is the quality of being an entrepreneur, i.e. one
who undertakes an enterprise. The term puts emphasis on the risk and effort taken by individuals
who both own and manage a business, and on the innovations resulting from their pursuit of
economic success.

3. Demographic Challenges in India/ Suresh Sharma

In India, demographic transition is taking place at a rapid pace whereby a large share of the
population is occupied by the youth and the years to come will usher transformation that
neither experience nor history has equipped us for. Therefore, it becomes imperative to focus on
the demographic challenges that India has to combat within next few years rather than the
coming decades. In this regard, the role of the government and the citizens of the country emerge
strongly. India is facing major issues in the provision of basic necessities and providing a minimum
standard of living to its growing population. All major problems faced in India like poverty, gender
inequality, malnutrition and other social and cultural conflicts are linked with population either
directly or indirectly.

4. The Sialkot Saga/ Ashwin Sanghi

When its a question of money, everybody is of the same religion. The trajectories of Arvind and
Arbaaz, both businessmen of a kind whose lives are unwillingly intertwined, ricochet off one
another while they play out their sinister and murderous plots of personal and professional one-
upmanship, all the while breaking every rule in the book. Both are unaware that what they seek
and fight over is the very obstacle in realising an ancient secret that dates back to a time long
forgotten. And yet, at the heart of it all, there lies tenderness... and pathos... and blood... and rare
moments of an almost exalted happiness. So, can it be that a man is both sinner and saint, victor
and victim, black and white? Ashwin Sanghi, master storyteller and spinner of yarns, weaves
together once more threads of the past and present, fact and fiction, history and mythology,
business and politics, love and hatred while dangling you ceaselessly over the cliff with this
chilling multi-layered narrative, keeping you guessing till the totally unguessable end. And youre
left wondering whether its a matter of faith... or fate?

5. World Development Report 2016: Digital Dividends/ World Bank

Digital technologies are spreading rapidly, but digital dividends the broader benefits of faster
growth, more jobs, and better services are not. If 40 percent of wage earners in Somalia can receive
their pay through mobile phones, why can't the rest of us? If eight million entrepreneurs in China,
a third of them women, can use an e-commerce platform to export goods to 120 countries, why
can't [200] million entrepreneurs worldwide do the same? And if India can provide unique digital
identification to a billion people in five years and save billions of dollars in reduced corruption by
doing so, why can't all developing countries replicate its success? Indeed, what's holding countries
back from realizing the profound and transformational effects that digital technologies are
supposed to deliver?
