To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to be writing this letter on behalf of a student of mine, Holly Auyeung. Holly currently
serves as one of the Fundraising Commissioners for the Link Crew program which I oversee at Merced
High. Over the course of the last two years, I have had an opportunity to work directly with Holly as a
Link Crew leader and in Link Crew class, and I have observed several traits in her that I think would
serve her well as she moves forward into college and her career.

Holly has shown herself to be responsible, determined, and respectful. She has showed responsibility
in taking on projects for Link Crew to benefit our freshman class. She has a strong work ethic and put
her full effort into tasks placed before her. She showed her determination throughout the year; keeping
track of her assignments, homework, and assessments; all while participating actively in the planning
and implementation of Link Crew events. She currently has a 3.73 G.P.A., which is not an easy task in
todays education system; especially while maintaining a positive presence in extracurricular activities,
like Link Crew and Varsity Cheer, and while taking both Honors and A.P. classes. Holly has shown her
respectfulness in dealing with students and staff from all different areas of our campus as a Link Crew
Leader. She displays her intelligence readily, in classroom discussion and planning of events. As a Link
Crew Leader, Holly has shown a desire to help others and improve our campus. She has demonstrated
responsibility and leadership as well and is a positive role model for younger students on our campus.

I know that Holly is excited about the possibility of attending college and eventually pursuing a degree,
and a career, in Business. I fully support her intent and believe that she will be successful. Her drive, as
well as the qualities already mentioned, will propel her to success. When added to her genuineness,
likeability, and ease in working with diverse groups, I see her being a valued addition to the student
body of whatever institution is lucky enough to have her. If Holly is able to get the financial assistance
necessary, she would be the first in her family to attend college. It is my hope that she will be given that
assistance. I am certain that she will make herself and her foster family proud.

Sincerely,
James F. McElroy Jr.
