Chief Jay Hanna has had a diverse

background in law enforcement covering

a period of just over 39 years. He has
been the Chief of Police at the Norfolk
International Airport police department
since January 1, 2010. Prior to that, he
spent 31 years with the Norfolk Police
Department where his last assignment
was as Chief of the Field Operations
Bureau for the Norfolk Police Department.
Chief Hanna attended public
school in Lake City South Carolina. From
there he received higher education at
Golden Gate University where he received
undergraduate level degrees in
Administration of Justice, and Public
Administration. He has continued with
educational endeavors and have
completed courses of study at the
University of Richmond, Robins School of
Business receiving a certificate in the
professional leadership, and at the
University of Virginia, Weldon Cooper
Center For Public Service, where he
received a certificate in Leading
Educating And Developing, and intense
leadership course.
Chief Hanna says that he enjoy
sharing information about his chosen
occupation and hopes that he is able to
ignite the flame in some of you to carry
on after he has finished his law
enforcement career.
