The vals will accumulate differing social, economic, and cultural backgrounds through a sensory experi-
ence. The thermal vals will play a role in uniting Akrons social persona, in which opportunities to manifest
new relationships through informal encounters will attract those with common stresses. Bridging soci-
etal gaps and alleviating physical and mental strain through various forms of therapy and relief through
kapha, pitta, and vata holistic approaches. sensuous and restorative experiences by variances of light/dark-
ness accompanied with water features to provide comfort for those wanting to step out of their shell
and welcome new consociation.

problem
ohio city, cleveland

Younger couple looking to upgrade their living situation

- Both clients feel as though they need more space to continue a healthy
relationship
- Theyre tired of living on top of one another and has claimed lighting,
views, and lack of heat are a nuesence
- The clients enjoy there type apart, yet love outdoor activities together

sitE PLAN

Two seperate homes that act as one will attempt to be a more suitable
living arrangement. This design will enable the couple to spend time with
one another as well as drifting to seperate wings for me time. The space
breaking the two wings apart serves as a means of egress, but more so pro-
motes
are communal living environment. Such an open plan through the
kibbutz style community will allow others to freely integrate and socialize.
The clients personal needs have been addressed while giving initiative for
them to experience a communal way of life, but still keeping their indiviualism.

The Landscraper is located between St. Clair and Rockwell Ave. on East 12th St.
which gives forms a natural sense as a hub that caters to leisure, tness, enter-
tainment, and business. Surrounding urban connections allows its shared space
to converge diversity. The Landscrapers objective is to stimulate further devel-

06 urban design shaker heights, oh

the exploration of urban design was seen in phases starting with a series of col-
laging of city plans from over the world. collage development came through
iterations and soon gave life to base plans used for 3d modeling and hand
sketching. programs were case specifIc and needed to fIt seamlessly in shaker
heights existing fabric.

Quarters 37 Biketel rests along Lock 37, which is adjacent to the historical Alexander Mill. The Biketel em-
bodies the motion that its surrounded by. The site is encompassed with movement such as pedestrian, cycli-
cal, vehicular, and even nature itself. Quarters 37 Biketel best suits an outdoorsman, someone who plans
on an extensive bike ride along the Erie Canal and Cuyahoga River. The biketel can accommodate a cyclists
stay for up to a few weeks or a short duration of training or simply escaping the stresses of daily life.
Quarters 37 utilizes ambient light to enhance ones Circaqdian Rythtm while serving as a checkpoint along
the towpath.
