When studying the subject of "the seed" there is one universal teaching that

governs. This is as follows:

John 3:

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is

There are TWO seeds of promise mentioned in scripture. One is "seed of the
flesh" and the other is "seed of the Spirit" (also characterized as "faith as the
seed of the mustard tree").

You are cross referencing verses that speak of different seed. You are taking
verses that speak of "fleshly seed" and attempting to mesh them together
with verses that speak of the spiritual SEED by which we are all born again,
the "seed of faith."

One need only look at 1 Peter 1:23 to see your error.

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word
of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Christ said "ye must be born again of spirit" and further said "that which is
born of flesh is flesh." So 1 Peter 1:23 speaks of the seed of FAITH (by which
we are spiritually born again, and does NOT speak of the "seed" of promise,
which is Messiah and which pertains to the FLESHLY SEED of Abraham.

This error is rampant among those who preach Christ's biological Father is
God Almighty. They reason that Christ was not "the seed of Abraham"
physically, for they don't think that Joseph is Christ's biological seed.

There are TWO major errors in this line of thinking.

1. Even if Joseph were not Christ's biological seed, Christ would still be the
physical descendant of Abraham through MARY (because a Jewish heritage is
actually traced through the MOTHER in Hebrew culture and not through the

2. Christ would not be considered "of the line of David" (if Joseph were not his
biological father) because the lineage is traced through the father, but a
child's HEBREW heritage (his or her Jewishness is determined by the
MOTHER). So, those who conclude Christ was not the PHYSICAL seed of
Abraham are in serious error.

1 Peter 1:23 speaks of the "seed" which causes us to be "BORN AGAIN" of the
Spirit. This cannot be "fleshly seed" because that which is born of the flesh is
flesh. This is that same seed of which John spoke in 1 John 3:

9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in
him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

This is the SPIRITUAL SEED, which is FAITH. The faith of a "mustard seed."

The other verses you quote concern themselves with PHYSICAL SEED.

Galatians 3:
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And
to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Clearly "seed" here is "physical seed" or decendancy. Paul makes the

argument that when God promised that through Abraham's "seed" all nations
"would be blessed" it was a promise regarding Christ, not Ismael, and not
even Isaac. This is FLESHLY SEED he speaks of and does not result in our
being "born again of the spirit." He makes this clear in galatians by saying
such things as "are you so foolish that having begun in the spirit are you now
made perfect in the flesh?" Your FLESHLY SEED (lineage) or decendancy to
Abraham based on fleshly seed does is not "incorruptible seed" and does not
result in being born again. So Peter speaks of SPIRITUAL SEED in 1 Peter 1:23
and Paul speaks of FLESHLY SEED in Galatians 3: 16. They do not cross
reference as you have tried to do.

Then in Galatians 3:29 Paul turns to discussing the SPIRITUAL SEED (mustard
seed of FAITH) saying that we are "children of Abraham" by FAITH (and not by
corriptible seed of the flesh).
Galatians 3:
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is
neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to

the promise.

But he actually said this earlier:

7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of

Now, many Christians err and think that Paul is saying the "promised seed" to
Abraham was "faith." Now, if Christ were not the PHYSICAL SEED of
Abraham, this would HAVE to be the case. But in reality Christ is BOTH the
PHYSICAL SEED of Abraham, by flesh (and by promise through the
performance of the flesh), and he also represents the SPIRITUAL SEED of

(For Abraham through FAITH performed IN THE FLESH and that resulted in

Paul states this flatly in ROMANS!

Romans 4:
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead,
when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's

20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong
in faith, giving glory to God;

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to

22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

As it was in Abraham's day, so is it now, that FAITH (the spiritual seed) is

perfected and comes to fruition by PERFORMANCE IN THE FLESH. Abraham
believed God, and despite his wife's womb being LONG DEAD, he
PERFORMED IN THE FLESH and she gave birth. If Abraham had DONE
NOTHING there would not have been a child. But Abraham believed and that
belief and faith WROUGHT WORKS!

James stated this as well, so Paul and James were in AGREEMENT on this

James 2:
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and
have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled;
notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body;
what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith
without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also
believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac
his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made

23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it
was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had
received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead

The author of Hebrews also makes it clear that FAITH BRINGS WORKS of

Hebrews 11:
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he
should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing
whither he went.

9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country,

dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same

10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker
is God.

11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and
was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him
faithful who had promised.

12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as
the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen
them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and
confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

So, faith without works is no faith at all and the spiritual seed that brings NEW
BIRTH is TRUE LIVING FAITH which is always accompanied by WORKS. But
what works? Works of the law? Of course not, for Abraham's works were not

Romans 4:
9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the
uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for

10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in

uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of

the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father
of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness
might be imputed unto them also:

12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision
only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which
he had being yet uncircumcised.
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to
Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of

So, before the law was even given, Abraham performed the works of faith
which led to the salvation of all!

When Christians take the message that "by the law shall no man be justified"
and "the just shall live by faith" and conclude that since the works of the law
do not save, therefore there are "no works" in salvation, they decieve
themselves. For there is and always has been a difference between "works of
the law" (or works born out of observing the letter) and "works of faith."
Works of faith NEED NO LAW to be born.

Romans 9:6-8 once again speaks of the two seeds. Fleshly seed and spiritual
seed (faith as a mustard seed).

6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all
Israel, which are of Israel:

7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but,
In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children
of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

The seed of faith (and of promise) does not NULLIFY the seed of the FLESH!
Christians attempt to have Paul REPLACING one for the other. This is NOT in
his writings. Paul preached BOTH and the necessity that the PHYSICAL
(fleshly seed) must ALSO have the spiritual seed of FAITH to inherit.

This was not something NEW! This was the law from the beginning. Just
keeping the LETTER was NEVER enough. Abraham set the standard that
obedience must be BY FAITH as well as by letter! As faith without works is
dead, works of the law without faith is "dead works."

Does this nullify the promise to those who are the "physical seed of
Abraham?" Not at all and Paul never suggested such a thing! What he said
was, "you are the seed of Abraham, blessed are you, but now you must be of
the SEED OF FAITH," (but again this was ALWAYS required of the physical seed
of Abraham) for "flesh and blood" (lineage) cannot "inherit the kingdom!" It
never COULD.

Until the GOSPEL to the GENTILES however, (which Paul was made an
Ambassador) one had to be of the SEED of ABRAHAM, the PHYSICAL SEED, or
one had to convert using CIRCUMCISION (which made you a seed of Abraham
by obedience). You were entered into the tribe if you were a Gentile but were
circumcised into Abraham's circumcision.

NOW, all that is needed is the SEED OF FAITH (for the Gentiles). Paul NEVER
told a single physical decendent of Abraham that he did not have to be
circumcised. NOR, did he tell them they did not have to circumcise their
children. This was a FALSE ACCUSATION that he DENIED at the council of
Jerusalem in the book of Acts.

Christians (and especially the so called Pauline's who misinterpret Paul's

teachings) have concluded that since righteousness does not come by the
law, therefore righteousness does not ever COME! They conclude, to their
own peril, that they have "imputed righteousness only," through water
baptism and other sacraments (such as sinner's prayer).

This is a lie and James said "be ye doers of the word and not just hearers,
imperiling your own soul" And John said "don't be deceived, he that DOES
righteousness is righteous."

Righteousness does not come by the work of the law, but by the Hearing (and
DOING) of FAITH. For he that has faith is not a hearer only but a DOER! Our
works are NOT BORN of the law, but of GRACE and of FAITH and of HEARING
and FOLLOWING the LORD OF GLORY, in obedience to his command to LOVE
