How Principles of Design applied to "ZIGHIZAGHI" Multi-Sensorial Garden

Zighizaghi is a multi-sensorial urban garden that stems from a collaboration

between Miliashop and Farm Cultural Park and designed by OFL Architecture.

Ruang terbuka yang unik dengan nama Zighizaghi seluas 320 sqm selesai dibangun pada
tahun .... hasil karya dari Francesco Lipari and Giuseppe Conti menjadi welcoming
area baru bagi citizen of Favara. Ruang terbuka ini merupakan suatu
inovasi yang memadukan antara hardscape dan softscape material dalam
lanskap melalui suatu desain yang unik. Milias desire to express its link with
the field of biology has served as the genesis for the project, which is inspired by
shapes that bees are able to replicate: hexagons. Taman ini apabila dilihat dari
tampak atas akan berkesan tidak jauh berbeda dengan taman-taman
yang lain, namun taman ini memiliki suatu hal yang unik, yaitu dapat di
nikmati melalui sudut pandang yang berbeda. Apabila dilihat dari tampak
atas, Zighizaghi akan terlihat seperti berada dalam permukaan yang
datar, namun apabila dilihat melalui eye level, barulah nampak suatu view
3D dari Zighizaghi karena dibangun pada ketinggian level yang berbeda.

The unique open space of 320 sqm name Zighizaghi completed in 2016. A
creation of Francesco Lipari and Giuseppe Conti be welcoming a new area
for the citizen of Favara. This open space is an innovation that combines
the softscape and hardscape materials through a unique design. Milia's
desire to express its link with the field of biology has served as the
genesis for the project, the which is inspired by shapes that bees are Able
to replicate: hexagons. This park looks when seen from above will be
memorable not much different from other parks, but this park has
something unique, which can be enjoyed through a different angle. When
viewed from the top view, Zighizaghi will look like they're in a flat surface,
but when seen through the eye level, then appears a 3D view of
Zighizaghi because it is built on a different level heights.

Zighizaghi seluas 320 sqm terhitung sebagai suatu ruang terbuka yang
kecil dalam skala kota, namun bukan berarti Zighizaghi hanya berperan
sebagai ruang publik saja, prinsip-prinsip design secara jelas dapat dilihat
diterapkan pada design Zighizaghi. Setiap design tentunya memiliki tema,
begitupula dengan Zighizaghi. Tema identik dengan gaya, corak atau style
yang menciptakan suatu unity dengan cara repitition pada elemen-
elemen lanskap atau elemen-elemen design yang dapat menciptakan
kesatuan tema. Bentuk serba hexagonal pada Zighizaghi merupakan tema
taman ini. Perpaduan antara elemen hardscape melalui material kayu,
serta softscape dalam ruang tanam berbentuk hexagonal membuat
kesatuan yang erat antara elemen pembentuk lanskap pada Zighizaghi.
Kesatuan tema yang terbentuk antara elemen elemen desain penyusun
Zighizaghi, serta elemen-elemen lanskap berupa hardscape and softscape
material membuatu Zighizaghi menjadi suatu ruang yang memiliki suatu
tema utuh.

Unity
Zighizaghi measuring 320 sqm counted as a small open space in an urban
scale, but that does not mean Zighizaghi only serves as a public space
only, the principles of design can clearly be seen applied to the design
Zighizaghi. Each design must have a theme, nor with Zighizaghi. The
theme is synonymous with style, pattern or style that creates a unity in a
way repitition at the elements of the landscape or design elements to

Gradasi
Gradasi identik dengan irama,ritme atau suasana yang menciptakan
kesan variasi yang maksimal. Bentuk hexagonal yang umum terlihat
disetiap elemen pada Zighizaghi tidak membuat gradasi pada Zighizaghi
menjadi tersembunyi. Permainan penyusunan pola yang menempatkan
elemen-elemen pada level yang berbeda merupakan gradasi yang ada di
Zighizaghi. Selain itu, penggunakan jenis softscape yang berbeda warna,
bentuk daun, ukuran tanaman yang berbeda membuat kesan variasi yang
maksimal serta tidak monoton. Serta material kayu berbentuk hexagonal
yang memiliki ukuran lebih kecil, namun di buat menonjol di beberapa
spot membuat variasi dari Zighizaghi menjadi semakin bervariatif.
Transform dari material kayu ke tanah sebagai media tanam melalui
material penghubung berupa batuan kecil membuat view menjadi
bervariasi serta membuat batuan sebagai elemen penghubung antar
elemen menjadi suatu outline pada bentuk hexagonal yang membuat
gradasi warna dari terang (wood material) ke terang (soil).

Contrast
Prinsip design selanjutnya adalah kontras. Kontras identik dengan aksen,
kejutan, point of interest, penyemarak, dominansi, atau focal point yang
menciptakan daya tarik tertentu untuk menjadi pusat perhatian. The
project consists of two levels: the horizontal (the floor) and the vertical (the
lighting systems). The horizontal level is intended as an aggregation of
wooden elements made of phenolic plywood and knots of Okoum, and is
designed to assume different configurations thanks to the modularity and
flexibility of its geometry. The vertical level, on the other hand, is composed of
six fourteen-sided red prisms, designated Super Pods, made up of a luminous
body and a loudspeaker. These three-dimensional elements, created as a tribute
to Pfff (the inflatable pavilion made by Citivision and Farm Cultural Park), are
now used with the aim of contaminating the citys outskirts through art and

Gradation
Gradation is identical with the rhythm, the rhythm or the atmosphere it creates

yang diterapkan melalui elemen-elemen pembentuknya dapat saling
menguatkan dan tidak saling menyembunyikan sehingga menjadi suatu
kesatuan yang dapat diperoleh ketika penyajian antar elemen seimbang. Balance
identik dengan pengendali atau pembatas agar tidak berkesan penyajian suatu
elemen desain pada lanskap yang berlebihan. Penggunaan elemen hardscape
dan softscape pada Zighizaghi cukup seimbangan. Komposisi antara penggunaan
material hardscape dan softscape yang merata disetiap sudut taman.
Penggunaan warna yang tidak monotone berwarna coklat, pemilihan tamanan
yang bervariasi dari warna, ukuran, bentuk daun sehingga membentuk variasi
dalam taman. Adanya point of interest yang memberikan suatu kontrast pada
Zighizaghi, sehingga desain yang dibuat tidak mudah bosan untuk dinikmati.
Semua elemen dihadirkan secara terkendali dan tidak berlebihan. Ukuran
hexagonal yang sesuai dengan luasan tapak yang tidak terlalu luas membuat
keseimbangan antara elemen yang kuat.

Prinsip-prinsip design yang disebutkan diatas dapat menjelaskan secara

jelas bahwa Zighizaghi merupakan suatu project yang dibuat dengan
menerapkan prinsip-prinsip dengan dalam prosesnya. Untuk menciptakan
suatu karya lanskap yang indah diperlukan prinsip-prinsip desain untuk
menata elemen-elemen desain : titik, warna, garis, bidang, ruang, tekstur,
cahaya, bayangan, bunyi dan aroma, dan elemen lanskap berupa
landfrom, tanaman, bangunan, perkerasan dan site structure.

Apakah suatu karya desain dapat tetap terlihat indah apabila tidak menerapkan
prinsip-prinsip design pada penerapan nya?

Design principles mentioned above can be explained clearly that Zighizaghi is a
project created by applying the principles in the process. To create a work of
beautiful landscape necessary design principles for managing design elements:
dots, color, line, shape, space, texture, light, shadow, sound and aroma, and
landscape elements such as landfrom, plants, buildings, pavement and site
structure.

Whether a design work can still look awesome if it does not apply the principles
of design in its process?
