practicum and identify areas in which you feel further development is necessary.

Observed Strengths: / Areas in which further development is needed:

*Very enthusiastic about the lesson.
*Activity provided directly addressed the objective of the
lesson. Students were working in groups to classify the
living and non living part of an ecosystem.
Clarifications were provided to ensure understanding.
Various activities were used and students were able to
discuss among themselves within the group as well as the
entire class.
Students work were valued and praises were given
throughout the lesson.
*Improve probing questions: For example, What did you see in the
video? That is a very vague question. Questions should be
directly related to the learning outcomes.
*Elaborate on students answers. For examples, a student answers
a living thing is an animal with backbone. You must clear any
Misconceptions they begin to form.
Review crosscutting concepts: Energy and Matter concept was not
mentioned at all throughout the lesson.

The lesson was well planned and students consideration

was taken into account.

The instructional time was fully maximized with no wasted

time.

The activities clearly address the objective if the lesson.

General Comments: A very interactive lesson with various activities. Students were engaged into the lesson using a video followed
by a group classification activity. The entire class was focused and ready to learn.

Observed Strengths: Areas in which further development is needed:

Very entertaining engagement activity(The
angry bird). A review from last lesson.
The vocabulary cards were an excellent way to
define the different elements of an ecosystem.
The flowed smoothly with an introduction,
body and conclusion. The objectives of the
lesson appear to have been met.
Lesson Plan needs more work. For example, in the
engagement, How will you engage the students into the
lesson? Questions must be generated and the questions
must be listed in the appropriate section.
In the explore, the activity must be clearly described as
well as all the materials needed for the lesson.
Your PowerPoint on consumer, producers and
decomposers should have been a component of the
explain section.

Create activities that promote collaboration and

discussion. Ordering stickers does not involve much
collaboration

General Comments: The key words of the lesson was fully described in various ways. Students appear to
have decent understanding of how energy flow through an ecosystem. The elaboration section is a very
critical aspect of the 5Es. It is an extention of the lesson an it must provide the students an opportunity to
approach the concept from a different approach at a much higher level, especially the high achievers. For
examples, students could research ecosystems that are out of balance. What would eventually happens to
the living thing in that ecosystem?
