An Analysis Of Semiotic In The Old Man And The Sea By Ernest Hemingway

Literature is a creative work of arts an object that an artist makes it is not merely an
idea, a theory, or a system of thought, and talk about the feeling, spirit, and thought of
human being. The writer just analysis semiotic in the novel the old man and the sea.
There are two problem are formulated : first how are plot, character and then of the
novel the old man and the sea and the second what semiotic meaning are implied in
the novel the old man and the sea. This research used descriptive Analitativemethod.
All data are presented with words with word and explanation. The novel the old man
and the sea is used as the primary data source. Secondary data achieved from other
resources such as some data available in the internet and other document such as
dictionary, dictionary of the literature, some book and the literary analysis journal.
Data was collected using.
Documentation technique to study the object. First, understand the story, and retain
all of the points to be observed. Lastly, get the help of secondary data analysis of
primary data. Once all the data is ready, the next is classification.
Data based on the specifications, the next is analysis data based on semiotic analysis,
and the last step is description to write the result after through verification by means
of descriptive. Once the result are quite sure either then is that conclusion. Based on
the analyze of the novel, the researcher can draw conclusion that the semiotic
meaning that the writer find is symbol, the characterizations of main character are
find, industrious, powerfull.
