17 pieces of black construction paper


aluminum foil
30 cutouts of lightning bolts
Glue sticks
Scissors
Blue markers/ dobbers

Song written out on chart paper

*Prior to the lesson, I will have written out the song, I Hear Thunder on chart paper. Also, I will have made my
own thunderstorm picture.
V. Directions / Steps / Process [Parts A, B C]:

A. Motivation
I will have the children stomp their feet to make thunder.

B. Steps
1. I will instruct the children to come join me at the table.
2. I will explain to the children that we are going to make our own picture of a thunderstorm.
3. I will instruct the children to write their name. I will write each childs name on their paper if they are
unable to write it themselves.
4. I will instruct the children to begin to make their picture.
5. As the children are making their picture I will ask, Has anyone ever heard a thunderstorm?
6. I will praise the children as they work.
7. I will ask the children about what they have on their picture.
8. Once its time to switch groups I will instruct each child to hand me their paper and go join the rug for
circle.
9. I will repeat until each child has made a thunderstorm picture.

C. Conclusion and Transition

Conclusion
I will sing the song, I Hear Thunder once with the children. Once I have sang it once, I will ask the children to
join me.

Transition
I will instruct the children to stomp to their next activity.
