STUDENT RESPONSE AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS

Name: Denisse Leyva

Grade Level: 10th Grade
Content Area: Algebra 2
Standards Addressed:
MGSE9-12.A.SSE.1 Interpret expressions that represent a quantity in terms of its context.
MGSE9-12.A.SSE.1b Given situations which utilize formulas or expressions with multiple terms and/or
factors, interpret the meaning (in context) of individual terms or factors
Student Response Technology Used:
NearPod Socrative PollEverywhere iRespond TodaysMeet Other: Kahoot
Technology that students will use to respond to questions/prompts:
Computer Hand-held student response system (such as iRespond) Phone
Tablet (such as iPad Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch)
Describe the instructional activities that will occur prior to the SRS activity and how you will
introduce the SRS activity: I plan for it to take place towards the end of the unit, where the students
already know the material. I think it would be a great game for reviewing the material. The Kahoot I make
will be like test questions because this will be another tool for students to learn the material that is being
taught in the classroom
Describe the purpose of the SRS activity (check all that apply):
Assess Prior Knowledge Anticipatory Set (Create Interest in a Topic) To Illuminate Common
Misconceptions Formative Assessment of Content Knowledge (for purposes of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative Assessment of Content Knowledge Test Preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion Starter Homework Collection Other

Type of session: Teacher-Paced Student-Paced

Identification of students:
Students will log-in so their individual scores will be available to you after the session
SRS activity will be anonymous
Briefly describe what will happen during the SRS activity
The students are to use their phones, computers, or other electronic device to type in Kahoot.it.
When they are done typing that in I will have a number where it takes them to the specific quiz I would like
them to do. They are to create a name so they can access the quiz, I will give them the option to write
whatever they want but they must give me the name after class so I can see if they are struggling. The test is
a race because the quicker you answer the question right the more points you will receive.
The quiz will be timed by the difficulty of the question, which means the easier the question is the
less time I will give them and the harder it is the more time I will add. Although, it is a timed SRS I will tell
them to take it easy and that the important thing is to actually know the material.

Provide samples of questions/prompts to be given to students:

1. (7x 5) + (3x + 9) = 10x + 4
2. (2x2 5x + 1) + (x2 + 3x) = 3x2 2x +1
3. (4x2 2x 9) + (-3x2 + 3x 8) = x2 + x - 17
4. (8x - 6) (-5x + 2) = 13x 8
5. (3x2 + 2x + 4) (-6x2 - 2x 4) = 9x2 + 4x +8
6. (-5x2 + 3x - 2) (-7x2 - x 3) = 2x2 + 4x + 1
7. (5x2 + 2xy - 7y2) (3x2 - 5xy 2y2) = 2x2 + 7xy - 9y2
8. (x+2)(x+3) = x2 + 5x +6
9. (2x+1)(x+6) = 2x2 + 13x +6
10. 3x (2x2 + 8x + 9) = 6x3 + 24x2 + 27x

Right/Wrong Answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? Yes No

Mixed (Some will have correct answers, others will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display correct response to the class
after the SRS activity? Yes No
Why or why not? There is only one answer to the questions I ask because they are polynomials, that is why
it is important to give feedback as soon as possible because it can negatively impact the student if they
dont know how to operate polynomials.
Use of data: What data will be collected as a result of this activity? How will it be used and by whom?
(For example: Will information collected from this activity be used to award a grade? Will the individual
information collected be shared with students and/or parents to help them monitor individual progress?
Will you discuss the aggregate, anonymous data with the whole class to help them learn? Will you use data
to differentiate instruction for students, if so describe how) At the end of the quiz, I can see who responded
the answers correctly and who didnt. I think because this is a review game I think that it should be graded
as participation, but if I see a students that gets the majority of the questions wrong I will have a talk with
them and discuss the reason on why they are struggling.
Describe what will occur after the SRS activity: Once the quiz is done I will be able to see which
questions were missed the most and go over them.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. (For example: What are you trying that you have
not tried before? What do you hope to learn from this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn?
You must design something that will help you learn something new. Honor system!): I think it is very
important for teachers in this modern world to update themselves about the technology that surrounds us.
Although some teachers fear these advancements, it is inevitable to not know about them. This is why my
goal is to stretch my knowledge in technology as much as I can so I can incorporate them in my classrooms.
