Showing Textual Evidence Using

"The Lions of Little Rock"

Thank you so much for coming to sub in my class today! Today should be
relatively easy. Please contact me if you have any additional questions and
please write down the names of any students who give you any trouble. Please
remind them that acting out for a sub means they will receive a lunch
detention when I return.

Cite textual evidence to support analysis
of what the text says explicitly as well as
inferences drawn from the text.
Objective SWBAT: analyze the text from their book,
"The Lions of Little Rock"
and answer the questions on worksheet
#1 using textual evidence. THIS WILL BE
INDIVIDUAL WORK!!
Materials Needed
The Lions of Little Rock by: Kristin
Levine. (students should have their
own copy.)

Worksheet # 1 (copies are on my


desk.)

Pencil
Procedure Please start class by taking role and
marking those who are tardy and or
absent.

Allow 3 students to share their


"good things" (good things that
have happened to them that day or
so on.)

Explain to students that their


assigment for the period is to read
chapter 4 and then complete
worksheet #1. On the worksheet
they will be asked to answer the
questions and show support of their
answers using textual evidence,
they must include page numbers! If
they finish early they can start
reading chapter 5. They must turn
in worksheet #1 before they leave
class today.

Assessment Worksheet #1 will be what is due today.


Their completeness will earn them a
participation grade.
