Portfolio Keeping

According to Reynolds and Rice, writing portfolios are a collection of pieces or entries

that demonstrate a writers thinking and learning processes or is a collection of pieces or entries

that showcases the writers best writing. The writings included in a writing portfolio are collected

over time. By creating a writing portfolio, a writer is able to help the writer pay attention to the

processes and products of writing. Reynolds and Rice state that in order to keep a portfolio, one

must consider the principles of choice, variety, and reflection. This is important because it helps

us to know what is expected of our writing portfolios in English class.
