Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: In this project the students will be able to learn about
different ecosystems. They will go out on their own to gather data about the different types of
animals and plants that they see and how that related to different ecosystems affecting them. The
students will gather all of their data wherever they go bring back their information to share with
the class. After this the teacher will compile all of the data that the students collect putting it into
a class spread sheet uploading to the website when completed. Doing this project in such a way
allows the students to share their data that they collect with other people through this website.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? Some technology will be needed for this lesson. The first way is that the teacher will
need access to a computer to gather the information putting it into a spread sheet. The second
way is having the teacher have access to the website to upload the finished work that the
students complied.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of
them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high
LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school: This is where the teacher can get a little fancy and letting a
specialists come into the classroom introducing the topic to the students. Then
going on a walk with the students to show them the different animals and habits
that are in each ecosystem allowing the students to get hands on with their
learning.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): During the
lesson the students will be able to gather their own information on the different
ecosystems in the area with the different kinds of animals and plants are in each.
c. Higher-order thinking: Have the student be able to analyze the data that they are
collecting. They can possible make a chart of their own data followed by a big one
that includes the class data to show have everything is relating back to each other.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: The final product will be uploaded to the website allowing others to see
the work.

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating
What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and Why?
I would say that this is a LoTi level 5 in this lesson because the students are collecting data to
create something that they are learning from. Then taking that information and complying it in a
way for others to see and learn from.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your
districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? In this lesson, the threat of safety is
not that huge since the teacher will be doing most of the work online; however, being careful that
none of the students names are being published in it, or posting pictures.
