Target Population in Pima County
-Tohono Oodham Children in Indian Oasis Elementary School on the reservation grades three through five.

Health Issue
-Growing concern about the future rise of Type II Diabetes among Tohono Oodham Tribe Children.
-Arizona tribes have the highest rate of diabetes in the nation.
-A high percentage of around 75% of the Tohono Oodham children develop Type II Diabetes by the time of adulthood due to the
prevalence of childhood obesity

Social Ecological Model
Because we are dealing with young children,
additional resources, support, policies and

Intrapersonal: Tohono Oodham Children,

that every student, grades 3-5 must participate
