01 Followings issues were encountered during
AC unit condensation pipes installation.
1. Condensation drain now connected
through the pump types units but not
adequate method of information
provided about drain connection AC
unit in shop drawings.
2. Exhaust port have provided in the
shop drawings for gravity flow drain
(not pump type drain) but onsite now
pump type condensation. Since the
new installation units condensation
pipes all are connected through the
pumped connection then there will be
a lot of possibilities to water flow
through the exhaust port.
Please refer recommended
connection detail in Fig-01
Please provide AAV (air
admittance valve) in horizontal
connection, (Dont put 25mm
exhaust port later any bugs or
cockroach could be go through
there and block the drain pipe )
select adequate pipe size &
provide enough size riser pipe
and riser air vent.

3. All condensation pipes are same as Recommended to focus the

25mm is not adequate to carry all contractor to calculate the
units condensation water. approximate water content in
humid days and proved enough
pipes size when more units are
connected in series of
condensation pipe. Refer Fig-2
4. Provided shop drawings does not
provided the vertical condensation
riser pipe details such as pipe branch
For design engineer input
pipe connection to riser from each
floor level, pipe size, support details,
Pipe vent connection to every 10
story or like that &etc.
