Dear Computers R Great

You have informed me that you have a problem with some of the computers in
the office arent working and or are not up to standard, and you would want me
to fix the problems with the computers as well as improve some of the
computers so they will be up to standard.

Some of the problems you have described to me is how the managers computer
has developed a fault where you are unable to log in to it, this tells me that the
Ethernet cable or the port could be faulty, a cheaper solution is that the Ethernet
cable is faulty which would cost about 4 to replace or a worst scenario is that
the Ethernet port is faulty which would cost you about 7-10 to replace. Another
problem you told me about was that the optical drive and how it would not read
any data the reason that the drive is doing this is because it is faulty but on the
other hand. you also wanted an optical drive that could rewrite discs to get a re-
writer optical drive it would cost you about 25-40 to get and install, the last
problem you mentioned was about how you were unhappy about how long it
takes your computer to boot up, a solution is that you could defrag your hard
drive using smart defrag which would be free to install online, another solution
you could use is upgrading your hard drive to a solid state drive which would
speed up your boot time as well as your whole computer, the last solution is that
you could upgrade your memory which would be cheaper than buying a solid
state drive. A member of staff also reported that a computer was not powering
up, the best-case scenario is that the power cable is faulty which would be about
3 and the fuse would be about 10p to replace.

Some of the restraints you ordered were how a wireless router cannot be
installed and how all of the internet communication will be connected using an
Ethernet cable, so you might have to install a network router, NIC cards for each
computer connect them. You also wanted a scanner capable of OCR (optical
character recognition) which would cost about 50.

Alternatives
Dear the Heights Employment
You have told me the problems you and your employees have had with your
computers, I am going to tell you what I can do and what I could do if I had more
of a budget.

First of all you said how the managers machine had developed a fault where you
were unable to log-on. What I am going to do is check the Ethernet cable and the
port to test which of these is the problem and change and or replace them.
Another problem you had was how the optical drive could not read any data and
I will check the problem by checking the Sata cable to see if it had developed a
fault, but you also wanted to replace the optical drive to another optical drive
which is better because it is a re-writer so there was no need to fix the other
optical drive which in the computer to begin with. The next problem you wanted
me to fix was how you were unhappy about the speed of your computer e.g.
boot-up opening applications and completing jobs so I would recommend
upgrading the hard drive on your computer to solid-state drive or installing more
ram, I will install more ram but I cant install the solid state drive because that
would put me over my budget. Your staff members have also reported that one
of your computers was not powering up that could be one of three problems the
power supply unit, the power cable or the fuse in the power supply cable. I will
test all of these problems in the best scenario the fuse or the cable would be the
problem in the worst end scenario the power supply unit would be the problem.

Secondly you also wanted me to upgrade your systems as well as fix your
systems, the first upgrade you wanted was to be able to scan hand written
documents but for that to be a possibility I you would need a non-portable
scanner. Also you wanted to copy data from another optical disc to another and
to be transferred to clients without excess paperwork, to be able to do this you
would need a rewriter which I mentioned earlier. I also mentioned earlier that the
original optical disc in the managers computer was faulty. The last thing you
wanted was to expand how we communicate in the work place, you could use
software like Gmail or office 365 if I had the budget, then you should be able to

communicate around the offices much easier than walking around and without
many problems, everyone in the office at the click of a button.

Finally you gave me some constraints to abide to while upgrading the managers
computer. For example your computer to be wired rather than wireless to do that
you would need an Ethernet splitter and the required amount of Ethernet cables
at required length, the next constraint is how you didnt want machines being
taken off site so a recommendation is not to have laptops or tablets being used
in the workspace. You also gave me a budget of 250.00 which I had stuck to.

Justification
Dear Boss

I have been told how the computers in the heights employment office, I am going
to explain the strengths and weaknesses of this project.

I have looked at all of the scenarios of the computer and I have recommended
changes that will fix the computer as well as give them a well needed upgrade.
The first problem I encountered was how the managers computer developed a
fault where he could not log on to the computer server, I recommended checking
the Ethernet card and or the Ethernet cable, I would check these specific parts
because the Ethernet card/cable allows the computer to access the network.
Another fault is how the manager was unhappy with the time it took for the
computer to boot up, open applications and complete jobs. A solution is to either
install a SSD or to install 8 GB of ram to speed up the system in its entirety. The
next problem I fixed was how one of the computers in the office was not
powering up I fixed this by checking the power supply cable to see if the cable is
the problem or if the fuse in the plug has blown and replacing the problem.

As well as you wanting me to fix the problems of the managers computer you
also wanted me to upgrade the managers computer. The first thing you wanted
was to be able to scan hand written documents, a strength of this is obviously
being able to scan hand written documents, another advantage is how any
image which is digitised can be included on any document. A weakness is how
the scanned documents can vary depending on how old or even if the quality of
the lens is bad. The heights employment manager also wanted a re-writer. An
advantage of this is being able to transfer data from another disc to another, the
next advantage of a re-writer is how you can modify and change the data on a
disc with ease. The last upgrade the manager wanted was the ability to
communicate with other offices using email
