Thoughts for Young Men by J.C. Ryle
Theres a reason this is the recommended book for the entire
congregation. This is one of those books that speaks to a
wider audience than the title suggests. Thoughts for Young
Men can teach us all about time and opportunity, sin and

Canyon Announcements
Sunday, May 7th Service
On Sunday, May 7th there will be an evening worship service
in place of the normal morning service. Service time will be
5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Student Ministries
This upcoming Wednesday, April 26th, Student Ministries will
meetin the conference lounge of theStarbucks at Frontier
Village. All mid-high and high school students are encouraged
to come. They will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Building Giving
This Sunday, April 30th, is the fifth Sunday of the month and
giving is designated for the building project. Giving online for
the building will be open until May 5.
Short Term Mission Trips
Dates for the upcoming short term mission trips to Nicaragua
are August 19th-26th to Matagalpa & Chinandega and
October 7th-16th to Managua & Ometepe. For more

Music Ministry
There will be a meeting for the Music Ministry after church on
5/14.
Childrens Ministry
Childrens Ministry on Sunday morning will go from infant to
3rd grade. 4th and 5th graders (along with children of any
age) are welcomed to attend the corporate worship gathering.

Today, as a church body lets pray bold and confident
prayers for God to use us mightily as witnesses for Him.
May He receive glory in salvation and may we enjoy being
used as His instruments.
Tuesday

Beware of manufacturing a God of your own: a God who
is all mercy, but not just; a God who is all love, but not holy;
a God who as a heaven for every body, but a hell for none;
a God who can allow good and bad to be side by side in
time, but will make no distinction between good and broad
in eternity. Such a God is an idol of your own, as truly an
idol as any snake or crocodile in an Egyptian temple. The
hands of your own fancy and sentimentality have made
him. He is not the God of the Bible, and beside the God of
the Bible there is no God at all.

Wednesday
Repentance can be one of those Christianese words
that often eludes clarity. But what does repentance look
like? The Bible says repentance is required for salvation,
and as believers, there are many times repentance is
required as we continue to battle sin in this life. It is one
thing to say I am repentant. But the corresponding reality
actually looks like something. Read 2 Corinthians 7:10-11
and see the clear description of how we ought to repent
after we have sinned. It is something that can be seen
and proved. It is good for us, when we have turned
from sin and seek the Lord, to ask ourselves, What does
repentance look like in this situation?
Thursday
Invisible things can be critical. You cannot see oxygen, but
its invisible presence allows you to live. You cant see it,
but its of primary significance. In the same way, the most
significant battles of the Christian life are invisible: the
battles in your mind. You cannot see them, but they are
of primary significance. Before your actions ever commit
sin or righteousness, your mind has led the way. This is
why the Bible is so concerned with the thought-life of
every believer. Colossians 3 commands, set your mind
on things above. When Jesus taught, he taught not only
to the actions, but to the heart and the mind. This is why
Romans 12:2 is concerned with the renewing of our
mind. Be thoughtful then, of your thoughts. Pay attention
to what has your attention. Stop often to think about what
you are thinking about. And fill your mind with scriptire, so
that it will have many easy paths upon which to walk in the
things above.
