UNIT PLAN OVERVIEW

Subject: Spanish 3

Topic of Unit: Careers & future tense

How does the unit connect to the lives of the students: Students gain vocabulary related to
careers they may be interested in as well as knowledge and practice of the future tense. They will
be able to communicate better and about various topics with Spanish speakers. They will be able
to talk about their future plans and dreams in a language that allows them to connect with more
of the people in their communities. They will also learn more about their own culture and the
cultures of Spanish speaking countries.

Overall Goals:
Students will add to their vocabulary and have a good grasp on it by the end of my unit
Students will learn how to conjugate regular and irregular verbs in the future tense
Students will begin applying the grammar concept to reading and writing activities
Students will broaden their understanding of their own culture as well as another culture

Context of unit: My unit is the first 5 consecutive lessons in a new unit. So I focused on
vocabulary and making sure they had a good understanding of the words before moving into the
grammar part. I introduced the future tense on the fourth lesson and continued practice with it on
the fifth. I also introduced the irregular verbs on the fifth lesson.
