In general, testing is finding out how well something works. In terms of human beings, testing
tells what level of knowledge or skill has been acquired. In computer hardware and software
development, testing is used at key checkpoints in the overall process to determine whether
objectives are being met.

The process involves various types of testing. Each test type addresses a specific testing
requirement. The most common types of testing involved in the process are: -

·c Concept Testing
·c Prototyping
·c Peer Reviews
·c Usability Test
·c Field Trials
·c Acceptance Testing

Co

Concept testing is taken place before a product is marketed after identifying early on potentially
successful products. In other mean, while promising a high probability of consumer acceptance,
the attempt minimizes the research and development costs as well as the marketing costs.

The process for concept testing in the following manner:

·c Define the purpose of the test

·c Choose a survey population

·c Choose a survey format

·c Communicate the concept

·c Measure customer response

·c Interpret the results

·c Reflect on the results and the process

A prototype is an initial version of a multimedia product. The prototype is testedto make sure it
is fit for the audience and purpose. If there are any errors or problems, the prototype is improved
and tested again. This goes on until the product is considered to be fully functional and suitable.

This process is known as prototyping and testing and is illustrated in the flow diagram above -

Peer reviews is the best methodology , Its very help to improve the quality. It preventing the
leakage of the project or product. Peer reviews is a type of review were in a team member or
any person who has the knowlegde about the work you have done, and who knows the process
of review, or what as a reviewer he need to do. They will check the work of test cases done
within the company by a group or individual people.

Usability testing like user friendliness check. Application flow is tested, Can new user
understand the application easily, proper help documented whenever user stuck at any point.
Basically system navigation is checked in this testing. In other mean it is clearly this is
subjective, and will depend on the targeted end-user or customer. User interviews, surveys, video
recording of user sessions, and other techniques can be used. The most common include :-

The purpose of the Field Trial is to provide information on the quality of the test items . This
Field Trial allows any arising issues in terms of the test items and translations to be resolved also
provides an opportunity for participating countries to familiarise themselves with all of the
sampling tasks required of them.

Acceptance Testing is the system with the intent of confirming readiness of the product and
customer acceptance. Normally this type of testing is done to verify if system meets the customer
specified requirements. User or customer do this testing to determine whether to accept
application. The customer knows what is required from the system to achieve value in the
business and is the only person qualified to make that judgement. The forms of the tests may
follow those in system testing, but at all times they are informed by the business needs.

[c Mixed skills set of the group : Some members have an interest in anything and others are
more confident in delivering presentations.
[c Good group morale : the group is functioning well together holding regular meetings to
carry well as organising activities together. The incentive of working on a developing
product for a company provides extra motivation.
[c Group communication : all group members upload any relevant information collected to the
group's yahoo group page creating an archive of work and eliminating duplication by
different group members.
[c Availability of test facilities : allows the group more flexibility in testing times.

[c Lack of knowledge: No group members had knowledge or experience of the project and has
been to gain experience and allow time for model and or test modifications.
[c The group has to attempt to satisfy both the requirements
