Composition Instructor, Colorado State University 2016-present

Provided six hours of academic support each week through in-class


instruction and office hours to nearly 40 college students in the
composition 150 classroom.
Lesson planned, delivered instruction, and assessed student learning and
written performance throughout the semester.
Provided oral and written feedback on small and large-scale written
assignments.

Library Instructor, Colorado State University 2016

Worked with the Morgan Library at CSU and CO150 (freshman


composition courses) at CSU to provide instruction on library services.
Conducted lessons on scholarly versus popular sources and how to

Workplace English Intern, Colorado State University Fall 2015

Provided two hours of instruction weekly to approximately twelve non-


native speaker employees at CSU.

progress, provided oral feedback to students, and created a final

Participated in self-reflection twice weekly after the lessons in order to
learn how to improve the lessons, and my teaching style, for the next
day/week.
Educational Garden Intern, The Growing Project 2014-2015

Oversaw a community garden at a mens transitional house in Fort Collins.


Installed, maintained, and harvested at the garden, and
taught the residents relevant gardening and communication skills.
Provided communication between the residents and the director of the
non-profit, and learned to communicate with the adult (some bilingual)
residents in an effective manner.
Mediated and problem-solve issues that arose in the garden.

Campus Kitchens, Spokane, WA 2012-2013

Leadership team member for volunteer organization campus kitchens.


Provided hot meals to various shelters around Spokane, and provided
snacks for kids programs and mentorship programs on campus.
Conducted orientation sessions for new student volunteers.
Instructed on safety skills and proper kitchen safety protocol.

Through this experience, I learned how to teach my peers and accomplish
the days goals in the allotted time that we were granted use of the campus

CoTESOL 2016 2016


Presenter

Lead a panel discussion at the CoTESOL (Colorado Teachers of


English to Speakers of Other Languages) conference in fall of 2016.
Presented our research from a needs analysis project that wed worked on
with our professors, the data from which will be used to design curriculum
to aid students in transitions from IEPs (intensive English programs) into
mainstream engineering courses and MBA programs.
Presented at a poster session at the CoTESOL conference in fall of 2016.
My colleagues and I discussed our work on anxiety in English language
learners.
During the poster session, we answered questions about our research on
anxiety in the classroom and distributed handouts with research-based
classroom activities that can be used in classrooms to reduce anxiety
among English language learners.

Needs Analysis Project, Colorado State University 2016


Participant

Worked with two professors who were working on a needs


analysis project to create a bridge program for students entering a
university from an intensive English program (IEP). C
Conducted interviews with students and instructors at the IEP, observed
classes at the IEP, and contributed to a report on the project.
The report summarizes qualitative data gathered from the observations and
interviews, and provides move analyses for work done in the mainstream
university level classes as well as a corpus analysis of work expected of
students at the university level.

CoTESOL 2015- 2016

Attended the 2015 and 2016 CoTESOL conferences.


Networked with professionals in the field, gathered materials and
resources on ELL research, and gathered materials and activities to use in
the classroom.

Participated as a conversation partner in an intensive English program


(IEP) classroom.
Helped English language learners practice their listening and speaking
receptive and productive skills.

Cultural Experiences

Peer-to-Peer Dialogue Program, Fort Collins, CO & Tomsk, Russia 2016


Participant
Participated in a collaborate project between Colorado State University
and Tomsk Polytechnic University. The project was called Territory
Identity of Russia and America through the Eyes of Young Generations and
was funded by the U.S. Department of State.
Collaborated with peers to create a website highlighting areas of cultural
significance in both regions.
Partnered with a Russian colleague, and together we developed
informational web pages on Cameron Pass in Colorado and the Ostrog in
Semiluzhki in Russia.
Hosted our Russian colleagues in Colorado, and later traveled to Russia.
Learned of Siberian culture and further networked with our Russian
colleagues.

Christian Life Movement, Ayaviri, Peru 2013


Translator

Translated for a medical mission in Peru.


Assisted with communication between medical staff and non-English
speaking patients in a remote, high-altitude town in Peru.
Problem-solved to clear up communication barriers between doctors and
patients at the medical clinic.
Learned about Peruvian culture.
Hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Study Abroad, Granada, Spain 2011


Participant

Studied abroad in a full-immersion program in Granada, Spain.


Lived with a non-English speaking host family and traveled Spain and
other European countries.
Completed coursework (in Spanish) on the European Union, politics,
history, and culture. My coursework, combined with the travel that we did,
allowed me to learn more about Spanish culture in a full-immersion
experience.
Worked on my Spanish language skills and navigated studying, living, and
socializing in a city where English was not widely spoken. During my
time in Spain.
Interacted with Spaniards on a regular basis through my participation in a
Spanish ultimate frisbee team.
