REFLECTIONS AND ACTIVITIES 2

CONTENT-BASED, TASK-BASED, PARTICIPATORY APPROACH

1) What I have understood that we use the language for academic purposes in content-
based approach. For this approach activating skimata, person relovation, helping
students while they are learning, doing something with language is important. We
don’t forget that students are human, thet can make error. Their language isn’nt
perfect. Theacher must support them whenever they need. In this approach students
learn academic language.

In task-based approach, teacher is facilitator. Teacher helps students to understand


with breaking into small pieces to subject. Teacher himself make the students
ready.Teacher use a task in classroom in a purposeful way. The task is related to
student’s interests. Pre-task= teacher explain student what they do and choose task
according to students’ interests.
While-task= student go their grops and make a plan about subject and thier
responsibilities. Post-task= teacher take feedback.

In participatory approach, content is meaningfull to students. Content is about their


life and problems. It is all about reflection and action to impruse students’lives. There
is a problem and we suggest something. We use learner-engagement.

Everyting is clear.

3) What you need to study again?


I think that everyting is okey.

3) What you can imply?


I think that task-based approach is useful for teaching language. Because students give
attantion each other. So they can communicate in target language. They study about a
specific and interesting subject. They enjoy while learning. With pre-task, while-task,
post-task students can know what they are doing.

ACTİVİTİES

A1) There is a specific purpose in CLT like learning grammar, idioms, vocabulary.
Content-based, task-based, participatory approach aims leraning langugae for
purposeful targets and communication.

A2) Content-based instruction has been called ‘a method with many faces’. Because it
is used for academic languge learning purposes. It can’t use for every language
learners.

B3) With doing Prabhu’s three types of task (information-gap, opinion-gap, reasoning-
gap) , we can see our student’s exchanging information with their groups to complete
the timetable. We can give our students’ opinions to complete their tasks. We observe
students’ surviving with their classmates about their favourite.We can see their finding
to figure out how best to discover classmates’ three most popular subjects.

B4) Yes, We can plan lesson around our students’ about what is happening in their
lives. Our subject must be students’ problems or interest about their life. We can this
according to participatory approach.
