Subsystem functionality and component recommendations

The processor and system power subsystem provide Voltage

power and reference voltages to all components of the From Reference

Sensor analog front end (AFE)
Subsystem functionality and component recommendations

The sensor analog front end (AFE) subsystem sits between

the actual sensors and the application processor. It either ADC Amp
converts or processes the sensor output into a digital format RF RX,
that can be used for further processing, or translates digital Ultrasound
outputs from the processor into analog signals for sensor Transceiver,
Integrated AFE LIDAR RX
control and drive.
Discrete implementations with amplifiers, ADC, DAC
Application
and filters, as well as application specific integrated Processor
solutions are possible. Functions of the AFE block can
also be part of the sensor (smart sensor or digital output PLL / Chirp Generator
sensor) or the application processor (integrated ADC
peripherals). Depending on the application, the sensor RF TX
AFE block can have special power supply and/or
DAC Amp
clocking requirements. DA
