Learners Plan:
For the longest time, I have struggled with writing and did not improve throughout my

academic career. My instructors told me that I was a good writer, but I did not feel like I was a

good writer. I had trouble with grammar, repetitions, not fully answer the prompt, and making

the essay flow. But when I started college, my writing skills have improved because I would get

very good feedback from my instructor. They told me where I need to work and what I did well.

The same as my peers, they gave me really good feedback. My instructors told me that I was

very detailed in my essay. English 113 has helped me a lot with my writing. It looks like I have

improved a lot on my writing. I have become more confident in my writing. My strengths as a

writer is that I can write more than before. I used to write only towards the minimum because I

had nothing else to write about, but now I can write to the maximum. My grammar has improved

a lot since I joined English 113. My instructor and peers have pointed out the grammar mistakes

in my essays and I fixed the mistakes right away. Sometimes, I would make small grammar

mistakes, but one of my peers will catch it and would tell me right away. Lastly, I can answer

prompts correctly and go well in detail about them. Overall, I have improved as a writer and I

will keep improving until I became a great writer. In sequence 2, SWA 3&4 were the ones that

helped me the most because I wrote about what I love. My peers could tell that I had a passion

for the Deaf community, American Sign Language, and Deaf culture. I was very descriptive in

my SWA because I wanted the readers to have a visual about American Sign Language, Deaf

community, and Deaf culture. The workshops have improved my writing the most because I

would get feedback what I needed to fix or stay in my essays. The first weakness I have in

writing is repetition. I like to be repetitive with points in my essay. I could make an emphasizes

on the points, but I have a hard time rephrasing in certain ways. My second weakness is

grammar. I realize that I am not good with grammar and I think that is what is causing my

problems with repetition. I am not good with using big words. I have trouble making my essay

flow because come out choppy and repetitive. Last weakness is writing too much. I realize that I

am very detail in one paragraph but not in another paragraph. I need to be equally detail in all my

essays. I will keep working on my weakness and become stronger with them in the future. Over

all, writing is a good skill to know because it is part of the liberal education of basic knowledge.

We need to have good writing skills because almost every profession involves writing. In the

future, I will need to have good writing skills because I will be writing up reports and translate

sentence into glossed sentence (American Sign Language structure form). Throughout my years

in college, I must improve in my writing because I want to become a sign language interpreter

and oral education teacher and those jobs required great writing skills. I would be signing ASL

and translating English into different language structures, and creating lesson plans to teach Deaf

children ASL or oral education.
