Welcome to Mr. T. Cells Travel Bureau. This may be your

first week on the job, but the work ahead of you is no
small feat. Due to the recent spike in travel, Mr. T. Cells
Bureau needed a strong worker that has proven
themselves with other projects throughout the past year.

Mr. T. Cell wants to blow the other travel agencies out of the
water by offering the customer a new form of travel. This

This is the job that Mr. T. Cell has informed you about, so he can become the top

focus on how this is going to be manageable. Secondly, Mr. T. Cell would like you to
create a travel itinerary that will highlight the trendy locations, exciting activities as
well as the imports and exports of the areas within the body system. He will
probably even give you a raise if you can be very creative with your design.

acceptable (but you must clear with Mr. T. Cells
CEO (aka your teacher)
Research: You will need to research on one of the eight human body systems.
(Digestive, Respiratory, Skeletal, Muscle, Nervous, Excretory, Circulatory, Immune)

1 Digestive System
Tell the function(s) of the system
Name the major organs of the system
Compare mechanical digestion to chemical digestion
Trace a bite of peanut butter sandwich through the system
and explain the changes that occur as it moves through the
various organs (Remember that the sandwich contains
carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Be sure to explain how each of these
components will change along the way.)
Discuss the importance of the pancreas and liver in digestion. Be sure to
include the substances produced by each and their functions.
Describe the structure of the villi and explain how their function is
related to their structure.
Please describe how your system connects with other systems in the
human body

2 Respiratory System
Tell the function(s) of the system
Name the major organs of the system
Explain the function of the ribs and diaphragm in the breathing process
Explain how breathing rate is controlled
Describe the interaction between the alveoli and the capillaries
Trace a molecule of oxygen from the nose (as it is inhaled) until it is
absorbed by the blood
Please describe how your system connects with other systems in the
human body

3 Skeletal System
Tell the function(s) of the system
Name the major organs of the system (include the names of at least 20
major bones)
Describe the composition of bone
Explain the difference in structure and function between the 4 major
kinds of moveable joints (ball and socket, hinge, pivot, and gliding)
Explain the functions of ligaments, tendons, and cartilage
Explain how bones grow and change with age.(Include the causes of
osteoporosis)
Please describe how your system connects with other systems in the
human body
4 Muscular System
Tell the function(s) of the system
Name the major organs of the system (include the names of at
least 10 major muscles)
Name the 3 types of muscles, compare their structure and
function, and tell where each would be found in the body.
Explain the mechanism of muscle contraction, including the all
or none response
Explain the function of extensors and flexors
Explain the causes of muscle fatigue
Please describe how your system connects with other systems in the
human body

(5) Nervous System

Tell the function(s) of the system
Name the major organs of the system
Sketch (or include a picture of) and describe a neuron
List the parts of the Central Nervous System
Explain how a nerve impulse travels from one neuron to another
Trace the path of a nerve impulse in the reflex arc, starting with the
sensory receptor and ending with the motor response
Please describe how your system connects with other systems in the
human body

6 Excretory System
Tell the function(s) of the system
Name the major organs of the system
Define excretion
Tell what the nephron is and explain how it works
Explain the role of sweat glands in excretion
Explain how carbon dioxide is removed from the body
Please describe how your system connects with other systems in the
human body

7 Circulatory System
Tell the function(s) of the system
Name the major organs of the system
Trace a drop of blood along its path starting in the right atrium and
ending in the superior vena cava (assume the blood goes to the brain
along the way)
Locate and label the parts of the heart on a diagram
Describe the components of blood & tell the function
of each
Explain how the heart beats
Please describe how your system connects with
other systems in the human body

8 Immune System
Tell the function(s) of the system
Name the major organs of the system
Explain how the skin functions as a defense against disease
Distinguish between specific and nonspecific response
Describe the actions of B cells and T cells in an immune response
Describe the relationship between vaccination and immunity
Describe what happens in an allergic response
Describe at least one immune disorder
Please describe how your system connects with other systems in the
human body
