HIV/AIDS Officer (NO-B)
UNICEF Myanmar is seeking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and committed professional
to work with the National AIDS Programme, UNAIDS cosponsors and NGOs/INGOs in
implementing the HIV/AIDS and Children program activities including Prevention of Mother to
Child Transmission (PMCT), pediatric care, primary prevention and Orphans and Vulnerable
Children (OVC) activities, training the concerned field staff, monitoring the implementation;
and developing the capacity. Among above areas, emphasis is given for the strategic
communication for primary prevention and orphans and vulnerable children.

Under the general guidance of the Chief, HIV/AIDS:

Your role would be to:-

• Advocate, build capacity and implement PMCT, pediatric care, primary prevention
and OVC activities in Myanmar, with emphasis on strategic communication for
strategic communication for primary prevention and orphans and vulnerable children
in collaboration with the National AIDS Programme, UNAIDS and NGOs/INGOs;

• Undertake field visits to UNICEF assisted project sites, assess local conditions and
resources and monitor UNICEF inputs with specific focus on PMCT, pediatric care,
primary prevention and OVC activities. Communicate with local counterparts on
project progress and effectiveness including monitoring the flow of supply and non-
supply assistance. Draft project plans for action of PMCT, pediatric care, primary
prevention and OVC activities with various partners including NGOs;

• Collect and analyse data for situation analysis on the impact of HIV/AIDS on children
and women for programme planning, monitoring and evaluation purposes. Analyse
project implementation reports and evaluate against established programme
recommendations and plans of action. Report outcome of analysis and propose
corrective action;

• Undertake follow-up action on project implementation activities and prepare relevant


reports. Draft changes in programme work plans as required;

• Attend technical co-operation meetings with special emphasis on UNAIDS sub-


groups, prepare notes and undertake follow-up action related to programme
implementation and monitoring. Liaise with professional organisations to ensure
technical soundness of the interventions;

• Select and compile training and orientation materials for those involved in programme
implementation including donor and media visits. Maintain computerised programme
system and submit relevant reports.

You should have:

• University Degree in Social Sciences preferably in medicine and/or public health;


• Three (3) years progressively responsible experience in programme design,
administration, monitoring and evaluation in related field;
• Fluency in English and another UN working language required.
Knowledge of local working language of the duty station an asset;
• Communication, analytical and training skills;
• Good knowledge of computer management and applications;
• Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.
