Oregon Hillel is hiring for two internships. These interns will join our team during the
2017-2018 school year. We are hiring 3 Engagement Interns and 1 Social Media intern.
Position Descriptions
Engagement Intern
Engagement interns help build Jewish community at UO. Their role is to help build peer
networks and engage Jewish students on campus and in Eugene in meaningful ways.
They can often be found meeting students on campus or around town. The
Engagement Internship is all about innovation; creative energy and generating fun and
meaningful Jewish experiences at UO is what engagement interns strive to accomplish.
During the 17-18 school year, the Engagement Intern cohort will learn about UOs
campus culture by meeting and discovering students interests and attitudes related to
Jewish life.

Responsibilities
During the 2017-2018 school year, the interns will meet for one hour weekly and are
expected to work an additional 2 hours in outreach and administration.
The job of an engagement intern is to reach out to students, act as a resource for these
students, and connect them to opportunities for meaningful Jewish experiences locally,
nationally, or internationally. Our engagement interns tap their personal social networks
(fraternities or sororities, business majors, foodies, artists, etc.) to connect social circles,
and to launch student-run Jewish initiatives on campus.

This is a paid internship. If meeting expectations, each intern is paid $300/term. The
Engagement Internship is an opportunity for valuable personal and professional growth.
The cohort will be trained on community organizing, program planning, database
management, and interpersonal communication. They learn to build authentic
relationships, create new Jewish experiences, expand communities, and impart
interesting and relevant Jewish content. They serve the UO community by creating
networks and micro-communities of students with similar interests.

Applications due Sunday, May 14th. Oregon Hillel will advertise, interview, and hire for
the position during Weeks 5-8 of Spring Term. There will be an orientation during Week
9.
Engagement interns are required to attend summer training, Engagement Institute, from
Wednesday, August 2nd Sunday, August 6th in St. Louis (registration, transportation,
room/board are covered). (If this is not possible, apply and we can discuss alternatives.)
Responsibilities
The Social Media intern will meet with Assistant Director weekly to touch base on media
projects and lay out newsletter. They are also responsible for developing a Social Media
calendar for Oregon Hillel and contributing to Hillels online marketing strategy
(Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Mail Chimp, blog, etc.). The successful candidate will
create engaging social media content that connects students with Jewish experiences in
Eugene.
