Oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) is one of the lignocellulosic biomass that is
available is relatively abundant in Indonesia. TKKS has great potential as a basic
raw material used for the production of fermentation because it contains 37.3-
46.5% cellulose and 25.3-33.8% hemicellulose. The purpose of this research is
the effect of particle size Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) on the content of
lignocellulose through of Alkali pretreatment. Samples made variety of sizes 35,
18 and, 14 mesh. Prior-alkali pretreatment, the sample was analyzed
components (lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose and ash) following the procedure
National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). After that the sample be
pretreated with 10% NaOH at 120; 130 and 140 C for 20 and 30 minutes.
Analyzed the results of the pretreatment components (lignin, cellulose,
hemicellulose and ash) following the procedure NREL using HPLC.
